This post is self reflective of sorts...So apologies in advance for the boring Jongo centric content :)
And the reason I'm thinking out loud today, in the form of a blog post is because I'm once again....On the road.
If you guys know my stoey, over the better part of the past decade my life essentially crumbled. I lost my business, lost my home, lost pretty much every penny I ever earning and have been rebuilding since about...2017 or so....
It's been a journey for sure!
And my life has taken career path swings with the best of them. So much so that I'm now a professional truck driver. Heh, tell me that this is what I would be doing to earn a living a decade ago and I would have said you were nuts.
But here we are....
So a few days ago, I left for my summer run. Which when push comes to shove is pretty much the best driving gig I could ask for. I'm on the road about 4 times a year for 2 weeks or so. And that's it. After that, I do monthly runs for a day or two but pretty much 90% of the time I'm at home.
It's perfect. Except for one slight detail...
You see, once you get into the trucking industry you CAN make a ton of money. I've met some guys that driver for a company and earn well over 6 figures. Some guys even buy their own trucks and hire other guys to drive them. It can be quite lucrative....But that means a LOT of time on the road.
So my job entails....Not much time on the road. And most definitely not, six figures a year.
And I was reminded that a few times since I took to the road this trip. You see, I work for my church. And let's just say when you are working for the church, you aren't going to be pulling in the big bucks.
I earn a great income. I'm extremely happy and blessed for this opportunity. The trade off for me works because....While I may not get 100k a year from driving, I also don't have to be on the road 3 weeks at a time, come back for two days and then back out for 3 weeks.
This truly is the best of both worlds. But I found it very interesting that people made it known to me on this trip...How much money I could be making if I drove for a company instead of the church.
You see, money isn't everything. And I know that sounds so cliche, but believe me....I used to earn massive amounts of money when I was in business for myself...And I was miserable.
Time spent with family is truly the greatest wealth one can have. And maybe when I was younger, I would have thought different but now, it's all about time spent.
The best investment!
So for the next few weeks, I may not be as active on the blockchain as usual. And that's because I'm working for God ;) He's taking my full attention and I will get some down time to post. But reflecting on my new career, my family life and love of spiritual growth....I think I'm the richest guy on the planet ;)
