Hello, musical beings who enlighten us!
I am very happy to be with you again to share a concert night very in tune with the Musical Photo Contest Round #8 that responds to this new contest brought to us by @powerpaul and the @hive-143104 community.
A concert on a magical Sunday night this past weekend here in my city, specifically at the Hispanic American Cultural Center.
In theory, it was a concert by the great Cuban troubadour Roly Berrío, with his new band, and featuring a distinguished poet also from the city, known to everyone as Veleta. Why do I say in theory? You'll see.
The night was magical, as always at every concert Roly gives us, a multifaceted and charismatic musician in every sense of the word. There was no shortage of laughter. Fortunately for me, because I needed to laugh after spending too many weeks withered by certain circumstances that fractured my soul. But anyway, we didn't come to talk about that, but rather about a beautiful night.
The quality of the musicians, of course, is top-notch. All local, their accompaniment captivates us with its ability to captivate us, worthy of perpetual applause.
Of course, being a photographer, there was no shortage of opportunities to hunt down other people who were also taking photos, whether as journalists or cultural promoters in their role of promoting the activity in question.
Roly, with his varied repertoire, kept us laughing and delighted all night long with that talent that also overflows with the melodies of his guitar.
There was no shortage of contact with the audience, constantly challenging them to get even more involved in the concert, something characteristic of their performances.
And when I least expected it, it turned out I was also involved as a protagonist of the evening.
Remember I told you something about the theory? Well, the thing was, the invited poet couldn't attend in the end. What did Roly Berrío do then?
Rogue as he is, he directly involved me in the concert so that I could read parts of my poems to everyone without consulting me or allowing me to prepare beforehand.
Imagine that I hadn't prepared anything and at that hour I couldn't find a single poem of mine on my phone. I should clarify that I have the bad habit of not memorizing any of my poems. And to top it all off, absent-minded black belt that I am, when I finally found a poem on my phone, while I was reading it, I realized it wasn't mine. At that hour, of course, I wasn't going to stop, in front of such an audience that had been full of nighttime energy for several hours, and tell them to wait. The poem was by Esteban Gabriel, a poet from Havana and a friend of ours. I read it, the audience applauded, and I, well, nothing, had to wait until the end to tell Roly what had happened and we both laughed about it.
Ultimately, everything turned out well, and that made me think that maybe it was an unconscious way on my part to hug Esteban, since he'd recently suffered the loss of his mother. Maybe it all happened for a reason, and that's why. Who knows...
But it didn't stop there, fortunately.
That night I had the privilege of having @lizandra accompany me at the concert. She, who actually took the photograph when I was reading, also mischievous, laughed her head off when she saw that I was announced to read in front of everyone, because she knew I was absent-minded and surprised by it all, since it hadn't been planned in advance.
Ah... But the world turns, and Roly did the same to him as to me: he made him the protagonist, too, and so he had no choice but to delight us with his poetry.
Of course, we laughed about what had happened later, and even more so when I told him what had happened to me.
As you can see, situations like this are what sometimes make moments more special. If it had been a planned night, we wouldn't have had so much fun.
It was definitely a truly magical night where, unexpectedly, we also became protagonists alongside this host of musicians who shine so much light on us. And that is always appreciated.

Estoy muy feliz de estar nuevamente con ustedes para compartir una noche de concierto muy en sintonía con el Concurso de Fotografía Musical Ronda #8 que responde a este nuevo concurso que nos trae @powerpaul y la comunidad @hive-143104.
Un concierto en una noche mágica de domingo durante este último fin de semana acá en mi ciudad, específicamente en el Centro Hispanoamericano de la Cultura.
En teoría era un concierto del gran trovador cubano Roly Berrío, con su nueva banda musical, y la participación de un excelso poeta también de la ciudad, conocido por todos como Veleta. ¿Por qué les digo en teoría? Verán.
La noche resultó mágica, como siempre en cada concierto que nos ofrece Roly, un músico multifacético y carismático en toda la extensión de la palabra. Las risas, no faltaron. Afortunadamente para mí pues necesitaba reír al llevar demasiadas semanas demasiado marchito en el tiempo por determinadas circunstancias que me fracturaron el alma. Pero bueno, no vinimos a hablar de eso, sino de una noche hermosa.
La calidad de los músicos, por supuesto de máximo nivel. Todos locales y con una capacidad de atraparnos en sus acompañamientos digna de aplausos perpetuos.
Claro está que, siendo fotógrafo, no faltó el momento de cazar a otras personas que también estaban haciendo sus fotos, bien sea como periodistas o promotoras culturales en su función de divulgar la actividad en cuestión.
Roly, con su variado repertorio, nos mantuvo toda la noche entre risas y pleno deleite con ese talento que desborda igualmente con las melodías de su guitarra.
No faltó el contacto con el público en constante provocación para que se implicaran mucho más en el concierto, algo característico en sus presentaciones por demás.
Y cuando menos me lo imaginaba, resulta que me vi implicado también como protagonista de la noche.
¿Recuerdan que les había dicho algo sobre la teoría? Pues la cuestión fue que el poeta invitado no pudo asistir finalmente. ¿Qué hizo entonces Roly Berrío?
Pícaro como es, me implicó directamente en el concierto para que lea ante todos parte de mis poemas así sin haberme consultado nada ni permitirme prepararme previamente.
Imagínense que no traía nada preparado y a esa hora no encontraba ningún poema mío en el teléfono. Les aclaro que tengo el mal hábito de no aprenderme de memoria ninguno de mis poemas. Y para colmos, despistado cinta negra como soy, cuando encontré un poema en el teléfono finalmente, mientras iba leyéndolo me di cuenta que no era mío.
A esa hora, claro está, no iba a detenerme, delante de tanto público que llevaba varias horas con toda energía nocturna, y decirles que esperaran. El poema era de Esteban Gabriel, un poeta de La Habana, amigo nuestro. Lo leí, el público aplaudió y yo, pues nada, que tuve que esperar al final para contarle lo sucedido a Roly y reírnos ambos con lo sucedido.
En definitiva, todo salió bien y eso me hizo pensar en que tal vez era un modo inconsciente por mi parte de abrazar a Esteban pues recientemente sufrió la pérdida de su madre. Quizá todo sucedió por algo y fue por eso. Quién sabe...
Pero todo no paró ahí, por fortuna.
Esa noche tuve el privilegio de que me acompañara en el concierto @lizandra. Ella, quien de hecho hizo la fotografía cuando yo estaba leyendo, pícara también, al ver que me anunciaron para leer delante de todos, se reía a más no poder pues sabe de mi despiste y la sorpresa que me provocaba todo ello al no estar concebido previamente.
Ah... Pero el mundo da vueltas y, Roly también le hizo lo mismo que a mí, le convirtió en protagonista también y así, no tuvo más remedio que deleitarnos con su poesía.
Por supuesto, luego nos reímos de lo acaecido y mucho más cuando le conté lo que me sucedió a mí.
Como ven, situaciones así son las que hacen a veces más especiales los momentos. Si hubiera sido una noche preparada, no nos hubiéramos divertido tanto.
Fue en definitiva una noche mágica de veras donde, sin esperarlo, nos convertimos también en protagonistas junto a esta pléyade de músicos que tanta luz nos regalan. Y eso, siempre se agradece.
