Three Tapes
These are the three copies of Akira I currently own.
1. Akira (1987, Pioneer) Sealed
I've had this sealed copy of Akira for about 10 years now/ It's getting dusty at this point. I pretty much just own it because I like it. I have strong feelings about sealed VHS as a collectable store of value. This kind of shit isn't getting less rare at this point and has gained a level or cultural relevance comparable to AAA IPs like Marvel and Pokemon.
2. Prototype Akira Bootleg
I've always wanted to make VHS. As a lifelong fan of the format for 20+ years it always just seemed like an inevitable next step so a few years ago I got involved in bootleg VHS scene. One of the most talented artists in the custom VHS scene made this amazing tape. The imaging on it is incredible, the tape is full custom, and the entire case is one large thin plastic sheet. He determined it was way too expensive to mas produce.
It took me months to get it out of their hands. It's one of the few boots I have in my collection I consider a masterpiece.
**3. Akira (1987, Pioneer) **
Doesn't look like much, does it?
This is the first copy of Akira I ever viewed. That kind of personal thing is important to me so, while it might not look special, this tape will never leave my collection.
Bonus: Akira 35th Anniversary Box Set (Manga)
Almost as rare as it is heavy.
Thanks for taking a look yall.
