Land SOON, but WEN?
Axie Infinity land play, also known as "Project K," has been coming "SOON" for an entire year. Ever since the December 2020 alpha test for Lunacia's land owners, most players were expecting to see real land play introduced to the game during 2021.
After the crazy parabolic growth and hype that Axie Infinity experienced, followed by the struggles of scaling up to meet that hype, Sky Mavis bailed on launching land play in 2021.
Many players understand this as a necessary move to handle growth, citing the successful launch of Ronin and Katana as key precursors to land play. Others are less satisfied, bemoaning the delay in a key aspect of the Axie universe.
Starting 2022 with a Bang
With this banger of a blog post, Sky Mavis has set the tone for 2022 in a big way. We get to see some exciting new updates in the planned look of Project K, as well as more specifics on what to expect with land play in 2022.
