Red is a lucky colour in many Asian cultures and since I have lived in Asia for a long time, my album is filled with a lot of red photos.
This was taken in December 2019, my last Christmas in Taiwan. I spent it with some friends in an indigenous village up the lowland mountains. It would be unusual not to go for a hike during a day out in Taiwan accompanied with making some tea during rest. I posted about that day out previously. Whilst waiting for our tea, me and my friends saw this plant, it might be a Christmas plant, I'm not sure. We were all vying to get the best shot of it against the ocean blue sky.
Product designers are very clever people, they can turn basic functional items into aesthetically pleasing objects when not in use. Space in Taiwan can be a premium, and this bookshop has killed two birds with one stone by adding an interesting feature to their store with the chairs they use when hosting events.
Or how about this? Often random everyday objects can create very interesting images, like these .... actually, let's play a little guessing game, shall we? I bought these when I moved into my new apartment in Taiwan. Do you know what they are? I have erased the top part of the object otherwise it will be very easy to guess. I will reveal the answer when the first person guesses correctly and he/she will get 2 HBD. Come on and have some fun at guessing!!!
Edit We have a winner already 😀
We've left Taiwan now, and are in Croatia for HiveFest in 2024. I can't remember taking this photo but the timestamps tells me where and when this photo was taken. I wonder which meal this was....? Happy memories.
And finally, my favourite red photo. A few years ago our town hosted an exhibition called See Monster. It was an old north sea rig, repurposed into the largest public art installation in the UK. I was part of the volunteer team to welcome and guide visitors, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I loved walking up the 35 meter tall See Monster, seeing the town from another perspective not normally available, and interacting with the hundreds of thousands of visitors during those 8 weeks. At night time, the See Monster would light up in different colours, it was so magical and surreal. Often, I'd just stand at the base and admire it in awe when there were few visitors towards the end of the day.
This collection of photos is part of the Photo essay Red contest hosted by @friendlymoose @stresskiller. If you have your own collection why not share as well. And before you do, let me know which is your favourite photo from above, and don't forget to see if you can see what the object is in the third image.
I'm writing this as a Chit Chat Friday series of post with the objective of driving up engagement and communication on Hive. The content will evolve around daily life things making it easy for everyone to take part to engage with one another. Hopefully it will interest you to make genuine engagement instead of two word spams like "Nice photos" "Very beautiful" or calling bots. I will be muting those comments.
