Last year on my birthday, a day I thought would end with a simple dinner out and nothing more. I had already dressed up and waited patiently, knowing my husband would come straight from the office to fetch me. I wasn’t expecting much, just time with him was enough for me. But when he arrived, he didn’t just bring his smile, he brought a surprise in his hands. A cake and my eyes lit up. My cake wore red like it was dressed for the occasion too. Strawberries and berries sat gently on top. Like it had been tinted with love. Their sweetness is perfectly arranged. It wasn’t a grand fest. That small surprise made me feel so loved. That red cake spoke volumes, it whispered love, effort, and the little ways he makes me feel special. That simple act meant more than any majestic gesture. It prompts me that love lives in the little things. And on that day, love came in the form of a cake, dressed beautifully in red.
