You ever take a break and start up a game thinking 'just one game because I got things to do!' you play a round and it doesn't go how you think it should and so you start up again thinking 'Well I have to end on a win otherwise I'll feel like a loser!' and while the next game might be close to a win the words "DEFEAT" still pop up.
Now it feels personal and you tighten your shirt and sit closer to the screen and pick your absolute best weapon/character ingame to achieve that evasive win screen and hopefully start on your other tasks for the day.
But even then it feels like the matchmaking is against you and you go again and again trying your best to squeeze out a victory, at this point you've been playing for several rounds and you've invested too much time to just quit now! The win is out there somewhere and you're going to get it...
Ah-ha! through hard work and dedication you have finally found it, The glorious win screen! Oh man what a difficult time you had but now you have something to show for it!
Now time for those things you needed to do. Wait what? what do you mean its 3 AM?! You stand up and feel how tired you are and decide to fall asleep and do the tasks tomorrow.
The "Playing until you win" thought process is almost like a trap that could take up your entire day, but one way I've found
that prevents me from feeling trapped is an ACTUAL good matchup in the game, if the match was hard fought and everybody played well then I don't feel bad for exiting the game after that round of play and could happily continue my day. It took several years of gaming to realize THAT is a true victory in my opinion.
Thank you for reading.
