I've taken on a few November challenges this year and to help me stay on task I started a planner journal. This means that I'm keeping up with 2 journals now.
I'm liking it so far. It gives me something to check off everyday and another reason to use my beautiful pens. The only thing making me cringe is seeing my messy, almost ancient language style, handwriting fill the decretive journal pages.
I used to think my handwriting was just part of who I was, like something set in my DNA. Just who I am. But the good news is that I can improve my handwriting at any age.
I read handwriting is just muscle memory. Some suggest practicing on lined paper like we did in grade school and going slow for at least 10-15 minutes a day. And some recommend taking a sentence and practice writing it neatly at least ten times a day.
I'm always impressed and instantly jealous when I see neat penmanship. And now that I know my handwriting is not something I was born with, I'll try and slow down, make an effort, for the aesthetics of my journals at least.
