After yesterday's surprise discovery, I was curious what else my wanna-be journals may have in them. So, I cracked open the second red journal in my collection. This journal was written in more than the previous journal. Entries are scattered throughout on random pages. It looks like I was using this journal more like how I use my current spiral notebooks. Lists, thoughts, reminders, ideas, client campaigns.
Based on the entries and client projects, it looks like this would have been in use around 2013-2015-ish. Although, I did find a couple of folded sheets of 8 1/2x11 paper with info from 2017. Which was interesting.
I wrote in about 1/3 of the journal. Not page by page. Random pages. Maybe one page, then a few blank pages, and then 5-6 pages written on, followed by more blank pages.
What's in a name?
I tried to remember why I had decided to use this one more like a to-do list. Then I saw the "Desk Journal" at the front of the journal. Ah, I must have decided to use this for tasking since it was meant to be at my desk. Or so I thought. The 2/3 of the untouched journal leaves me wondering if I should repurpose this for a more traditional journal or if I should keep using it as a tasking journal. I'm more into spiral notebooks for tasking. It appears my attempt all those years ago to transition from a spiral notebook to a desk journal didn't take. So for now, I'll leave it at my desk and see if either inspiration strikes or a decision reveals itself.
A Small Disappointment
I will admit, I was just a tad bit disappointed to discover this lovely red journal was relegated to tasking. I was hoping for another fun surprise discovery like yesterday's red journal. This shows me that even as far back as 2013, I didn't know what to do with journals.
Where this is going...I think
Opening these two red journals has me curious. So, I'm going to dust off some more journals and begin cracking them open each day. I'll share what I find. Who knows, maybe one of them will entice me to begin journaling. In the meantime, I'm in discovery mode and sort of intrigued by where this month's journaling challenge is taking me.
