VSC Network: Why I'm Eager to See It Fully Operational
The VSC Network promises to revolutionize DeFi on Hive, giving us access to a range of functions and opportunities that, until now, were out of reach.
Thanks to this layer 2, Hive will gain the ability to compete on equal footing with other chains, while still having key advantages such as extremely fast and, most importantly, completely free transactions.
The VSC Network will offer an RC (Resource Credits) system very similar to the one already present on Hive, although with one small but important difference: to operate, it will be necessary to hold HBD. Essentially, just as HIVE is the central token of Hive, HBD will be at the core of the VSC Network and will be used both to generate free RC and as the reference token for all swaps occurring on this layer 2, ensuring greater stability in exchange operations while also adding an important use case for HBD.
And it is precisely the ability to perform swaps in a freer, more stable, and more convenient way that appeals to me the most when I think of the VSC Network.
Of course, full support for smart contracts and the possibility of seeing more complex dApps arrive on Hive is extremely exciting, but much will depend on the success of the VSC Network and its ability to attract new users and developers.
Being able to perform swaps, however, will be one of the basic functions of the VSC Network, and for this reason, I expect to see such a feature available and fully operational as soon as possible.
Something that, in fact, is already happening:
By connecting to Altera, it is possible to link a wallet – even an EVM-compatible one like Metamask – and perform swaps between BTC and HIVE/HBD.
It’s still very limited… but surely it’s a start.
When new tokens are added, suddenly moving capital in and out of Hive will become much easier.
Right now, doing so is complicated and requires using exchanges, often quite expensive ones, which almost always come with various restrictions, starting with the limits on the amounts that can be swapped.
Moreover, as far as I know, there is no way to directly obtain HBD: all exchanges only allow selecting HIVE as the target token, forcing anyone who wants HBD to make an additional swap once on Hive.
Through the VSC Network, however, it will be possible to swap any token – or at least all the major ones – directly for HIVE or HBD, and vice versa, all with a single transaction.
Not only that: on the VSC Network, HBD will earn 15% interest without needing to be staked first.
For someone like me, who lately enjoys using various lending platforms to borrow stablecoins and then use them on other platforms to get a higher APR than I pay, being able to easily and quickly access that 15% offered by HBD would be absolutely fantastic.
This is what makes me hope the VSC Network reaches full operation as soon as possible, opening up a whole new world of possibilities for me, and not just me.

VSC Network: Perché Non Vedo l'Ora che sia Pienamente Operativo
Il VSC Network promette di rivoluzionare la DeFi su Hive, dandoci accesso ad una serie di funzioni e possibilità che, fino ad oggi, ci erano precluse.
Grazie a questo layer 2 Hive otterrà la possibilità di giocare ad armi pari con le altre chains, avendo però dalla sua vantaggi come transazioni estremamente veloci e, soprattutto, completamente gratuite.
Il VSC Network offrirà infatti un sistema di RC (Resource Credits) molto simile a quello già presente su Hive, anche se con una piccola ma importante differenza: per poter operare sarà necessario possedere degli HBD. In pratica, come HIVE è il token centrale di Hive, così HBD sarà al centro del VSC Network e verrà utilizzato sia per generare gratuitamente RC, sia come token di riferimento per tutti gli swaps che avverranno su questo layer 2, garantendo una maggiore stabilità alle operazioni di scambio, nonchè aggiungendo un importante caso d'uso ad HBD.
Ed è proprio la possibilità di effettuare swaps in maniera più libera, stabile e comoda ciò che mi attira di più quando penso al VSC Network.
Certamente il supporto completo agli smart contracts e la possibilità di veder arrivare anche su Hive dApps più complesse sono qualcosa di estremamente eccitante, ma molto dipenderà dal successo del VSC Network e dalla sua capacità di attrarre nuovi utenti e sviluppatori.
Poter effettuare swaps sarà invece una delle funzioni base del VSC Network e per questo mi aspetto di vedere una simile funzione disponibile e pienamente operativa quanto prima.
Cosa che, in realtà, sta già avvenendo:
Collegandosi ad Altera infatti è possibile connettersi con un wallet - anche EVM compatibile, come Metamask - ed effettuare swaps tra BTC ed HIVE/HBD.
E' ancora sicuramente poco... ma altrettanto sicuramente è un inizio.
Quando saranno aggiunti nuovi token, all'improvviso portare capitali dentro e fuori Hive diverrà molto più semplice.
Ora come ora farlo è complicato e richiede l'utilizzo di exchange, spesso anche abbastanza costosi, che quasi sempre hanno limiti di diverso tipo, a partire dagli importi che è possibile scambiare.
Inoltre, che io sappia, non esiste un modo per arrivare ad avere direttamente HBD: tutti gli exchange consentono infatti solo di scegliere HIVE come token di arrivo, costringendo poi chi volesse avere HBD a dover effettuare un ulteriore swap, una volta su Hive.
Tramite il VSC Network sarà invece possibile scambiare un token qualsiasi - o almeno tutti i più importanti - direttamente per HIVE o HBD, e viceversa, il tutto con una sola transazione.
Non solo: sul VSC Network HBD produrrà interessi al 15% senza necessità di dover prima essere messo in staking.
Per me che ultimamente mi diverto ad utilizzare varie piattaforme di lending per prendere a prestito stablecoins e poi utilizzarle su altre piattaforme per ottenere un APR maggiore di quello che pago, poter accedere facilmente e velocemente a quel 15% offerto da HBD sarebbe assolutamente fantastico.
Questo è ciò che mi porta a sperare che il VSC Network raggiunga la sua piena operatività quanto prima possibile, aprendo così a me, e non solo, un nuovo mondo di possibilità.
