I’ve been observing how well or poorly my content has been performing lately. I'm basing this on the attention and engagement it receives from readers, rather than rewards, which can be misleading. I’d rather use engagement and comments as the main indicators, since it’s actually a rare treat to receive feedback in the form of comments on this platform.
I came across a post by a longtime user who mentioned how both rewards and readership have dwindled over the years. I’m not too concerned about the decline in rewards, as there’s likely a technical explanation for it, and the value of the platform’s token can always fluctuate and potentially rebound.
What’s more concerning is the apparent continuous decline in readership. Or is it really?
Is it that users have decreased in number or become less active in engaging with posts? Or are they simply too busy with other aspects of their lives to participate actively? Perhaps they’ve just become more selective about the kinds of posts they choose to engage with?
I can’t speak for the entire user base of the platform, nor do I have access to complete data on the chain’s overall activity. So I’m choosing to focus my observations on my own content to keep things simple. Let’s just say I’m analyzing how well or poorly my content performs and sharing which types seem to gain the most attention.

I’ve been posting a variety of content because I’m not the kind of person with the discipline of bloggers who specialize in a specific niche. I write about anything and everything I find therapeutic. Sometimes my blog feels like a personal journal, especially when I write about things that happened to me that day. Many of my posts are unplanned.
Most of my topics are related to food, but I’ve also written about travel and my artwork. More recently, I’ve shared thoughts about life here on Hive and some sensitive issues within the platform.
I’d say that my travel and art posts performed well in terms of rewards, mainly because I posted them in dedicated communities with strong curation support and active followers. The comments I received on those posts were also decent.
While my food content usually earns decent rewards, it doesn’t really attract many comments. Maybe the food I share isn’t relatable enough to my audience, or perhaps my delivery comes off a bit dull—LOL.
Surprisingly though, the posts that get the most engagement are those related to Hive culture, the platform’s token, and discussions around the downvote culture. Even though these posts earn less in terms of rewards compared to my food content, they tend to generate the most meaningful and dense discussions.
So, the bottom line and my plan moving forward is to continue creating food and lifestyle content, while also maintaining my research and commentary on Hive culture. These two types of content seem to strike a good balance between rewards and engagement.
Unfortunately, I’ll be focusing less on travel and art posts for now, as they no longer bring me the same motivation. Maybe in the future, when I have more time and energy, I’ll return to them.
Thank you for taking the time to read my reflections and observations. I hope my journey and insights resonate with some of you, whether you're a fellow creator or a curious reader. As always, I appreciate your support and look forward to sharing more stories and thoughts with you soon.
