For the past four weeks, I have been up for 14 hours a day trying to work harder to pay the bills, and it is been difficult to take a break or a breather, watch a movie, go to the hospital, or simply go somewhere different to reflect on this life, the futility of all the struggles, and wondering where it all ends.
While many people want to escape their thought processes, I prefer to dwell on mine. I am not one of those people who wants to stop thinking about life's problems, illness, and other issues; why? It is my reality, and no matter how hard I try to deny it, it will not go away; this is not a show; real life is difficult and hits you harder in the face.
If you have money problems, you do not magically wish them away by doing yoga or wishing they did not exist, and BOOM! they vanish. These things have consequences, and we do not always realize it.
Living in reality can be difficult, especially if you are a breadwinner, provider, or someone who has a lot of expectations placed on their shoulders.
When I was younger, I ignored my medical conditions, believing that they did not exist. Guess what happened? Even after 15 years, it had not gone away. Maybe if I had accepted it back then, I could have dealt with the complications that could have arisen and found ways to avoid them.
For example, there is no shame in admitting that you are poor or ill; this is reality. Understanding this is why you will find solutions "Do I go to God in prayer?" Do I pursue modern medicine, get a job, or start a side business?".
The mind is a problem-solving tool.
Stress test it!
I understand that some problems will never be solved, but recognizing that you have a problem and acknowledging that you need to address it is a step in the right direction.
Bills do not take breaks, and life does not care if you are fighting from an unfair advantage; in fact, those who are disadvantaged in life face the most challenges.
The universe recognizes, but humanity has created its own problems, which is why we have discrimination, segregation, racism, violence, injustice, unfairness, and so many other issues.
When you are disadvantaged in life, understand where you are coming from; if you need to cry, do so; if you need to give up, do so for a short period of time; people usually do better when they take time off, not to remain in disbelief or denial, but to recover stronger.
I frequently tell people that a few years ago, I experienced the most wasteful and reckless period of my life. I could have taken the time to address the issues in my life, but instead I ran away from them, not thinking critically about how to change my life, how I could have done it, or why I needed to do it.
Good times, bad times
However, I strongly believe that good times produce weak and carefree people, whereas bad times produce stronger and more determined people.
My life was good and fair a few years ago, but I did not address the problems that might arise in the future, and now I am facing them all. Life generally punishes ignorance.
Prepare, be on guard
We do not get to say, "Oh, I did not know." Life requires you to know. Even though you are blindfolded while playing "life's game," it expects you to see. It reminds me of a Korean action film I saw. These guys were basically thrown into a "game mode" reality, and thousands of people died, leaving only two or three survivors.
Even the wisest and most cautious people lost the game and their lives. It demonstrates that we are in a race, except that sometimes we take breaks to eat ice cream, go on dates, or go swimming, and sometimes we forget about life for a moment, and sometimes people are "living their lives" to the fullest when they meet an unexpected end.
They did not prepare, did not know, and did not check. When your life is coming to an end, you realize it is a ticking time bomb. Do not wait until you are five minutes from the end to start addressing issues. This is why people with terminal illnesses typically leave life feeling fulfilled and accomplished. They had time to prepare, they know their outlook on life, they have built and lived the life they want, and even if it is cut short, they will most likely leave with no stone unturned.
