Wild vs Survival
Same Cards, Same SPS, Different Rewards: A Financial Showdown!
On Splinterlands the Ranked Play is divided into 3 different formats/play modes:
- Modern Format: the realm of human players because bots and battle helpers are prohibited. In this format you can only use cards of the last two sets released in order of time (Rebellion and Conclave Arcana).
It is my favorite format and, in my opinion, it is also the only really fun format in Ranked Play because playing manually against human players is a source of fun for me while playing manually against bots is a source of boredom for me.
- Wild Format: the realm of bots and automations because bots are allowed and in the top positions of the leaderboards there are almost always players using automations. In this format you can use cards of all editions without restriction but there is a fortnightly cost of 2000 DEC to pay to play (Wild Pass).
- Survival Mode: the latest and most recent format introduced by Splinterlands. It has different dynamics than the other two formats because there is no energy bar but cards function as energy bars because cards used in a lost battle enter a cooldown period.
It is a very fun format because it has interesting game dynamics but the presence of bots (allowed as in Wild Format) reduces this fun by incentivizing the use of bots instead of the fun manual play.
Before the release of the Arcana Conclave set I played with two accounts in the Modern Format.
After the release of the Arcana Conclave set:
- I continued to play manually in Modern Format but only with my main account (libertycrypto27).
- I started a test in the Wild Format: I played for three seasons using XBOT and a delegation of SPS tokens (50K SPS in season 159 and 70K SPS in seasons 160 and 161).
I stopped my testing in the Wild Format at the end of season 161 because, although my playing results were positive, the seasonal financial results were very very small.
In season 162 I played in Survival Mode with the same collection of cards, with the same delegation in SPS that I had used in the Wild Format in the previous season to compare the financial results in the two formats with equal assets.
In this post I show you this financial comparison which is very useful for me to evaluate what to do with my Wild cards and I hope it is useful and gives elements of evaluation to my readers who have wild cards as well.
In season 161 and season 162:
- I delegated my wild cards to my curation account for SPT tokens, libertygame27
- I used my collection of wild cards consisting of 195 cards = 20192 BCX = 456080 CP = $1182.59 (Market Prices).
- I delegated 70K SPS staked to libertygame27.
- I used XBOT
Based on the current market value of the DEC (Lowest Ask Value) token and the SPS (Highest Bid Value) token, I calculated the financial results I got:
- In the Wild Format in Season 161
- In the Survival Mode in Season 162.
In season 161 in the Wild Format I earned 365.46 SPS = $2.70 from battle victories.
To purchase the Wild Pass I spent 2000 DEC = 247.89 SPS = 1.83$
XBOT's fees (20%) were = 73.09 SPS = 589.70 DEC = 0.54$
My final profit after costs was 44.59 SPS = 359.79 DEC = 0.33$
In season 161, playing in the Wild Format allowed me to earn only 0.33$
The cost of the Wild Pass ate most of my profit.
XBOT earned more than me: 73.09 SPS vs. 44.59 SPS
In season 162, playing only in Survival Mode allowed me to earn 367.95 SPS from battle victories.
In Survival Mode, there is no Wild Pass and my only cost was paying fees to XBOT = 73.59 SPS.
My final financial result in season 162 in Survival Mode was a profit = $2.18.

Based on my test results, I chose my strategy for the current season, season 163:
i disabled XBOT for libertygame27
I activated XBOT for libertycrypto27 (only Survival Mode)
I returned all my Wild Cards to my main account
I have excluded all my Modern Cards from use in Survival Mode.
I will reactivate the use of my Modern Cards in Survival Mode only on the last day of the season and then deactivate it before the start of the next season
I will remove the 70K SPS delegation to libertygame27 so that I will have 138K SPS staked totally available in my main account.
Starting from the current season I will no longer play with two accounts but play only with my main account:
- in Modern Format with my Rebellion cards and with my Conclave Arcana cards.
- in Survival Mode with my Wild cards and I will use XBOT.
I conclude this post by showing my last two battles won, my last battle won in Modern Format and my last battle won in Survival Mode to show the difference in SPS gain in two different game modes and with different amount of SPS staked.
In the next image you can see my last battle I won playing manually with @libertycrypto27 in the Modern Format in the Diamond III league with a SPS boost x8.08 (68K SPS staked)
In the next image you can see my last battle that I won playing with @libertygame27 in the Survival Mode in the Gold I league using XBOT and with a SPS boost x8.12 (70.5K SPS staked including 70K SPS staked received in delegation from my main account)

Wild contro Survival: stesse carte, stessi SPS… ma quanto cambia il guadagno?
Su Splinterlands il Ranked Play è diviso in 3 formati/modalità di gioco diverse:
- Modern Format: il regno dei giocatori umani perchè i bots e i battle helpers sono vietati. In questo formato è possibile utilizzare solo le carte degli ultimi due set rilasciati in ordine di tempo (Rebellion e Conclave Arcana).
E' il mio formato preferito e, secondo me, è anche l'unico formato davvero divertente nel Ranked Play perchè giocare manualmente contro giocatori umani è fonte di divertimento per me mentre giocare manualmente contro i bots è fonte di noia per me.
- Wild Format: il regno dei bots e delle automazioni perchè i bots sono permessi e nelle posizioni top delle leaderboards ci sono giocatori che usano automazioni. In questo formato è possibile utilizzare le carte di tutte le edizioni senza limitazioni ma c'è un costo quindicinale di 2000 DEC da pagare per giocare.
- Survival Mode: l'ultimo e più recente formato introdotto da Splinterlands. Ha dinamiche diverse rispetto agli altri due formati perchè non c'è una barra d'energia ma sono le carte a funzionare da barra d'energia perchè le carte utilizzate in una battaglia persa entrano in un periodo di cooldown.
E' un formato molto divertente perchè ha dinamiche di gioco interessanti ma la presenza dei bots (consentiti come nel Wild Format) riduce questo divertimento incentivando l'utilizzo di bots invece del divertente gioco manuale.
Prima del rilascio del set Conclave Arcana giocavo con due accounts nel Modern Format.
Dopo il rilascio del set Conclave Arcana:
- ho continuato a giocare manualemnte nel Modern Format ma solo con il mio account principale (libertycrypto27)
- ho iniziato un test nel Wild Format: ho giocato per tre stagioni usando XBOT e una delegazione di token SPS (50K SPS nella stagione 159 e 70K SPS nelle stagioni 160 e 161).
Ho interrotto il mio test nel Wild Format alla fine della stagione 161 perchè, anche se i miei risultati di gioco sono stati positivi, i risultati stagionali finanziari sono stati deludenti.
Nella stagione 162 ho giocato nel Survival Mode con la stessa collezione di carte, con la stessa delegazione in SPS che avevo usato nel Wild Format nella stagione precedente per confrontare i risultati finanziari nei due formati a parità di assets.
In questo post ti mostro questo confronto finanziario che è molto utile per me per valutare cosa fare con le mie Wild cards e spero che sia utile e dia elementi di valutazione anche ai miei lettori che hanno wild cards.
Nella stagione 161 e nella stagione 162:
- ho delegato le mie wild cards al mio curation account per i token SPT, libertygame27
- ho utilizzato la mia collezione di Wild cards composta da 195 carte = 20192 BCX = 456080 CP = 1182.59$ (Market Prices).
- ho delegato 70K SPS staked a libertygame27.
- ho utilizzato XBOT
In base al valore di mercato attuale del token DEC (Lowest Ask Value) e del token SPS (Highest Bid Value) ho calcolato i risultati finanziari che ho ottenuto:
- Nel Wild Format nella stagione 161
- Nel Survival Mode nella stagione 162.
Nella stagione 161 nel Wild Format ho guadagnato 365.46 SPS = 2.70$ dalle vittorie in battaglia.
Per acquistare il Wild Pass ho speso 2000 DEC = 247.89 SPS = 1.83$
Le fees di XBOT (20%) sono state = 73.09 SPS = 589.70 DEC = 0.54$

Il costo del Wild Pass ha mangiato la maggior parte del mio profitto.
XBOT ha guadagnato più di me: 73.09 SPS vs 44.59 SPS
Nella stagione 162, giocare solo nel Survival Mode mi ha permesso di guadagnare 367.95 SPS dalle vittorie in battaglia.
Nel Survival Mode non c'è il Wild Pass e il mio unico costo è stato pagare le fees a XBOT = 73.59 SPS.
Il mio risultato finanziario finale nella stagione 162 nel Survival Mode è stato un profitto = 2.18$.

In base ai risultati del mio test ho scelto la mia strategia per la stagione in corso, la stagione 163:
ho disattivato XBOT per libertygame27
ho attivato XBOT per libertycrypto27 (only Survival Mode)
ho riportato tutte le mie Wild Cards nel mio account principale
ho escluso tutte le mie Modern Card dall'utilizzo nel Survival Mode
riattiverò l'utilizzo delle mie Modern Card nel Survival Mode solo l'ultimo giorno della stagione per poi disattivarlo prima dell'inizio della stagione successiva
toglierò la delega di 70K SPS a libertygame27 in modo da avere 138K SPS staked totalmente disponibili nel mio account principale.
A partire dalla stagione in corso non giocherò più con due accounts ma giocherò solo con il mio account principale:
- nel Modern Format con le mie Rebellion cards e con le mie Conclave Arcana cards
- nel Survival Mode con le mie Wild cards e utilizzerò XBOT
Concludo questo post mostrando le mie ultime due battaglie vinte, la mia ultima battaglia vinta nel Modern Format e la mia ultima battaglia vinta nel Survival Mode per mostrare la differenza di guadagno in SPS in due modalità di gioco diverse e con un quantitativo di SPS staked diverso.
