Un saluto a tutti,
nei giorni scorsi ho molto parlato della necessità di puntare sull'onboard di nuovi utenti italiani in Hive, facendo leva sulle caratteristiche peculiari della nostra blockchain tra cui la resistenza alla censura.
Quando si parla di censura sui social media ci si aspetta di ritrovarsi davanti al caso dell'estremista che denuncia quelle che secondo lui sono delle ingiustizie o del complottista che mette quelli che a suo modo di vedere sono dei complotti ai danni della gente comune.
Queste sono sicuramente due categorie di utenti che sono maggiormente oggetto delle "attenzioni" dei Social e delle loro assurde politiche interne, ma cosa pensereste se vi dicessi che non sono le uniche ad essere colpite?
Nei giorni, settimane e mesi scorsi si sono succeduti tantissimi episodi di autori che lamentavano il ban del loro account, la demonetizzazione o l'oscuramento dei propri contenuti.
A tal proposito bisogna anche notare come i gruppi di moderazione di questi social (spesso delle AI come raccontavo in questo articolo: YOUTUBE , the artificial intelligence and its strange algorithms.. [ITA/EN]) possano agire con il fioretto o con la mannaia a seconda della gravità della "presunta" violazione alle politiche interne.
Oltre agli errori dell'AI nel giudicare i contenuti, molte volte ci sono manovre per oscurare i contenuti considerati scomodi, come quelli a forte matrice politica o geopolitica e quelli di denuncia sociale, soprattutto se riguardano territori e zone del mondo che soffrono di una grave instabilità.
In questo quadro generale e proprio nell'ottica della diffusione di Hive in terra Italiana, mi ha particolarmente colpito la denuncia di un personaggio pubblico italiano che credo tutti o quasi conosciamo in quanto volto televisivo da quasi una decade: Chef Rubio.
Da giocatore di rugby a cuoco per finire a condurre format televisivi pseudo-culinari che lo hanno portato alla ribalta del panorama televisivo italiano, Chef Rubio non ha mai trascurato l'aspetto social del suo personaggio, coltivando un profilo pubblico in Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter e Telegram.
Proprio grazie alla sua popolarità ha cercato di catalizzare l'attenzione su alcune tematiche che potremmo definire "scomode" per i social dove la leggerezza e la frivolezza dei contenuti viene preferita a temi più impegnativi e politicamente scomodi.
Ultimamente era particolarmente focalizzato sul tema Palestinese ed è proprio su questo che è scattata la censura di Instagram.
Più che di una censura sarebbe meglio di parlare di uno "Shadow-ban", cioè un oscuramento di alcuni contenuti di un autore che toccano temi sensibili e che contravvengono i termini d’uso della piattaforma.
Chef Rubio ha dichiarato che da mesi e senza nessun avviso da parte dello staff di Instagram, il suo account è stato sottoposto a una censura soft, appunto lo shadow-ban, su post anti-sionisti e contro l’occupazione della Palestina.
Lui stesso ne è venuto a conoscenza tra la fine dell'anno scorso e l'inizio di quello in corso grazie alle segnalazioni di molti followers che non riescivano più a vedere alcuni suoi contenuti.
Rubio ha rincarato la dose illazionando che Instagram abbia manipolato volontariamente il numero dei suoi followers e il contatore delle visite delle sue stories.
Ovviamente Instagram ha difeso la sua politica e le sue azioni dicendo che di aver bloccato semplicemente i followers fake e i bot e il tutto per la sicurezza dell'account dello Chef, ma questa spiegazione puzza un pò di tentativo di deviare l'attenzione dal vero problema.
Fermo restando lo schieramento ideologico riguardo la questione Palestinese, che ancora oggi a distanza di cento anni non trova una soluzione, un social media non dovrebbe interferire con la libertà di espressione ideologica dei propri utenti.
Lo sa bene anche Chef Rubio che ha preso una decisione clamorosa: boicottare Instagram ma non solo.. anche Facebook e Whatsapp subiranno la stessa sorte.
Infatti sono tutte piattaforme social di Mark Zuckerberg e quindi lo chef ha voluto colpire direttamente quella che lui definisce la grande lobby sionista per denunciare l'evidenza di come un’azienda privata si permetta di decidere, al di sopra delle legge, di cosa si possa parlare e quali siano i temi "vietati".
Giusto per la cronaca va specificato che Chef Rubio aveva 740mila follower e 9107 post pubblicati in sette anni di permanenza su Instagram.
Sembra fatto apposta, ma il timing della decisione di Chef Rubio è quasi perfetto nella costruzione della community italiana su Hive e per premere l'acceleratore sulla necessità dei social media decentralizzati.
E' la perfetta sintesi del perchè c'è l'autentica necessità di poter scrivere senza il timore di essere censurati in un social media libero dal controllo centralizzato di una società privata, che in quanto tale ha interesse solo nel generare utili e non nel diffondere la verità o delle voci fuori dal coro.
Secondo me questo avvenimento potrebbe essere il nostro manifesto nell'onboard dei nuovi utenti.. infatti spiegherebbe in termini comprensibili dall'utente medio dei Social Media centralizzati il perchè è importante difendere la propria libertà di parola ed espressione, ma soprattutto che la scure della censura può colpire chiunque, a maggior ragione se a gestirla non è neanche un essere umano ma un'Intelligenza Artificiale.
Nei giorni scorsi molti connazionali hanno espresso i propri dubbi su quali dovessero essere le motivazioni da esporre a un potenziale nuovo utente per convincerlo a iscriversi e utilizzare Hive e a loro vorrei dire che non penso esista risposta migliore da dare se non riportare questo avvenimento, che ha portato alla decisione presa da un personaggio pubblico come Chef Rubio di boicottare i più grossi Social Media esistenti.

In the past days, weeks and months, there have been a lot of authors complaining about banning their account, demonetizing or blacking out their content.
In this regard, it should also be noted that the moderation groups of these social (often AI as I mentioned in this article: YOUTUBE , the artificial intelligence and its strange algorithms.. [ITA/EN]) can act with the foil or the cleaver depending on the seriousness of the "alleged" violation of internal policies.
Besides the errors of AI in judging the contents, many times there are maneuvers to obscure the contents considered inconvenient, such as those with a strong political or geopolitical matrix and those of social denunciation, especially if they concern territories and areas of the world that suffer from serious instability.
In this general and proper framework, from the point of view of the diffusion of Hive in Italy, I was particularly struck by the denunciation of an Italian public figure that I believe we all or almost all know as a television face for almost a decade: Chef Rubio.
From rugby player to cook, he ended up leading pseudo-culinary television formats that brought him to the forefront of the Italian television scene, Chef Rubio has never neglected the social aspect of his character, cultivating a public profile in Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter and Telegram.
Thanks to his popularity, he has tried to draw attention to some issues that could be defined as "uncomfortable" for social media where the lightness and frivolity of the content is preferred to more challenging and politically uncomfortable issues.
Lately he has been particularly focused on the Palestinian theme and this is what Instagram's censorship has been about.
Rather than censorship, it would be better to talk about a "Shadow-ban", i.e. a darkening of some of an author's content that touches on sensitive issues and contravenes the terms of use of the platform.
Chef Rubio has stated that for months and without any warning from Instagram staff, his account has been subjected to a soft censorship, the shadow-ban, on anti-Zionist posts and against the occupation of Palestine.
He himself became aware of it between the end of last year and the beginning of the current one thanks to the reports of many followers who could no longer see some of its contents.
Rubio has increased the dose by claiming that Instagram has voluntarily manipulated the number of his followers and the visit counter of his stories.
Obviously Instagram defended his policy and actions by saying that he simply blocked fake followers and bots and all for the safety of the Chef's account, but this explanation smells a bit like an attempt to divert attention from the real problem.
Without prejudice to the ideological stance on the Palestinian issue, which is still not resolved a hundred years later, a social media should not interfere with the freedom of ideological expression of its users.
He also knows that Chef Rubio has made a resounding decision: boycott Instagram but not only that... Facebook and Whatsapp will suffer the same fate too.
In fact they are all social platforms of Mark Zuckerberg and therefore the chef wanted to hit directly what he calls the big Zionist lobby to denounce the evidence of how a private company allows itself to decide, above the law, what can be talked about and what are the "forbidden" issues.
Just for the record it should be specified that Chef Rubio had 740 thousand followers and 9107 posts published in seven years on Instagram.
It seems to be done on purpose, but the timing of Chef Rubio's decision is almost perfect in building the Italian community on Hive and to press the accelerator on the need for decentralized social media.
It is the perfect synthesis of why there is a real need to be able to write without the fear of being censored in a social media free from the centralized control of a private company, which as such has interest only in generating profits and not in spreading the truth or voices outside the chorus.
In my opinion this event could be our manifesto in the onboard of new users... in fact it would explain in terms understandable by the average user of centralized social media why it is important to defend their freedom of speech and expression, but above all that the axe of censorship can affect anyone, even more so if it is not even a human being but an Artificial Intelligence.
In the past days many countrymen have expressed their doubts about what should be the motivations to expose a potential new user to convince him to sign up and use Hive and to them I would like to say that I don't think there is a better answer to give if not to report this event, which led to the decision taken by a public figure like Chef Rubio to boycott the biggest Social Media existing.
