YTL Communication's Yes 5G has recently partnered with Nvidia and launched the GeForce Now (GFN) cloud gaming service in Malaysia, providing the same plan tailored to different customers. The first plan, available to Yes customers, offers RM30 monthly or RM300 annually, while non-Yes customers can expect to pay a slightly higher RM50 monthly or RM500 annually.
Both plans offer 6 hours of RTX ON gameplay with higher access priority. However, it's important to note that in Malaysia, only RTX2080 cloud gaming servers are available, while RTX4080 servers are available in the US and Europe. (Check server status, here) Unfortunately, Yes does not clearly mention their offering as the GeForce Premium plan on their website.
Accessing GFN is straightforward: simply download the application onto your supported device, sign up, and log in to GeForce Now. Choose your desired plan and connect your game library through the settings. Yes recommends the following speeds to achieve the desired frame rates:
• 15Mbps: 720p 60fps
• 25Mbps: 1080p 60fps
• 35Mbps: up to 3840×1800 120fps
To provide perspective on cloud gaming, I tested GFN on an Apple MacBook Air M2 by playing Cyberpunk 2077, one of the AAA games. Using the Ray Tracing Medium graphics setting, I obtained an average of 45fps, which is quite decent. The ping was also excellent with a dedicated internet connection.
Although I had hoped for an upgrade to RTX3080 servers in Malaysia soon, only time will tell if GFN can offer it in the future. Visit Yes 5G Cloud Gaming at here.
