The flowers are tucked away, not expanding or showing off their full petals â they seem to slightly peek open, just enough to check if the sun is out. Thatâs how I found a hibiscus: tucked in, hugging itself, and it reminded me of how Iâve been feeling during these cold days.
This isnât my favorite kind of weather, to be honest. Even when the sun shows up on some days, the breeze is a quiet reminder that we shouldnât let our guard down or overexpose ourselves. Still, this winter feels different â more beautiful, more mindful. On gray days, all I think about is how lovely everything will look when the sun returns, while I reflect on how nature mirrors so much of what we need to learn: the seasons. Each with its own traits and teachings. All of them inevitable and necessary.
Sometimes when the sun appears during this season, itâs like a guest arriving way too early to a gathering. You appreciate it, but you know itâs not really time yet.
Lima has taught me so much â though in this season, I feel like Iâve stepped out of Karate Kid, constantly doing the âtake off the jacket, put on the jacketâ routine. The cold breeze is an invitation to take extra care. And Iâm not just talking about clothing.
