With the digital inks virtually drying on the metaversal paper of my Julie concept art (wrap your head around that!)... I'm ready to cycle back to the beginning of my trio of main characters and start the coloring process. So here you can see Julie in all her black and white glory, and Sarah in a state of the process known as "flats." This is where flat colors are applied with no shading, lighting, rendering, textures, etc. So there's still quite a bit more to do, but I think it's shaping up nicely and is already pretty representative of the more animated style I'm aiming for, which will have more of the flat color "cel shaded" look to it if all turns out well.
I'll most likely show off all three colored pieces together later this week so stay tuned for that! If you want to see the process of these illustrations from the very beginning you can find the video timelapse of the penciling stages over on my Instagram.
These pieces and more pulled from my archives and to be completed over the next couple weeks are all destined to be compiled in the "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." Sketchbook which will serve as a preview to the impending comic series. I'll be sending out free digital copies as well as news and info to folks on my email list, so sign up at bryanimhoff.com!
As always, I love to hear from you all in the comments, thanks for looking, and see you later this week!
