Here you can see the cable car that takes you to the famous monkeys in Gibraltar. It's a small car that fits about 15 people and takes less than 10 minutes to get to the Upper Rock Area. Since Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory in Spain, you can pay there with Euros and English Pounds. A trip by cable car is also relatively expensive, for £18 or the equivalent of just under €21 you can book a return trip, students and pensioners pay £1.50 less. However, it is also possible to make a stopover at the Nature Reserve, but this costs £32 or the equivalent of 37€. Arriving at the top with the cable car, you see the first monkeys coming towards you quite quickly. The monkeys are the opposite of shy and come quite quickly to a run. They are very trusting, maybe a little too much. We have seen monkeys stealing chips, ice creams and the like from visitors. But you are not really allowed to feed the monkeys, this can even be fined 1500€. It is great fun to climb around there and you have a breathtaking view of Gibraltar and the sea. Unfortunately, the last cable car comes already at 17:45, which is why it was not possible for us to admire the sunset from up there. It is definitely worth a trip, but hide your valuables and food before a monkey steals them 😀
Hier sieht man die Seilbahn, mit der man in Gibraltar zu den berühmten Affen gelangt. Ein kleiner Waggon, in den ungefähr 15 Leute hineinpassen, mit dem man innerhalb weniger als 10 Minuten auf der Upper Rock Area ankommt. Da Gibraltar ein britisches Überseegebiet in Spanien ist, kann man dort mit Euro und Englischen Pfund bezahlen. Eine Reise mit der Seilbahn ist auch relativ kostspielig, für 18£ oder umgerechnet knapp 21€ kann man eine Hin-und Rückreise buchen, Studenten und Rentner zahlen 1,50£ weniger. Es ist allerdings auch möglich, einen Zwischenstopp im Nature Reserve zu machen, dies kostet allerdings 32£ oder umgerechnet 37€. Oben mit der Seilbahn angekommen, sieht man auch recht schnell die ersten Affen auf einen zukommen. Die Affen sind das Gegenteil von schüchtern und kommen auch recht schnell auf einen zugelaufen. Sie sind sehr zutraulich, vielleicht auch ein wenig zu sehr. Wir haben Affen gesehen, die Besuchern ihre Chips, Eiscremes oder ähnliches geklaut haben. Aber füttern darf man die Affen eigentlich nicht, dies kann sogar mit einer Buße in Höhe von 1500€ vergeltet werden. Es macht großen Spaß dort rumzuklettern und man hat einen atemberaubenden Ausblick auf Gibraltar und das Meer. Leider kommt die letzte Seilbahn bereits um 17:45, weshalb es uns nicht möglich war den Sonnenuntergang von dort oben zu bestaunen. Es ist auf jeden Fall einen Ausflug wert, aber versteckt eure Wertsachen und Lebensmittel bevor ein Affe sie klaut 😀
