I love the taste of honey, but I hate the processed stuff that the majority of stores sell. I've found it incredibly difficult to find raw, unfiltered, and unheated honey. Sure I can always find it online, but I prefer picking up food items in person still usually. I already knew that honey could be pretty beneficial, but I was watching a video the other day that reminded me of its benefits. The main being that real honey is great for your digestive system. Let me explain further.
If you want to receive the benefits of honey, it should be unheated, unfiltered, and unprocessed in order to give you the rawest honey possible. By leaving honey unheated, unfiltered, and unprocessed, the enzymes and nutrients remain intact. Otherwise, you are basically just ingesting straight sugar, which we know isn't good for you. Raw honey in its completely unheated form is naturally thick and creamy. Think of the major difference between processed peanut butter and watery peanut butter that isn't heavily processed for a decent idea of how major the difference is.
Many prefer the rich consistency over that of heated and processed honey, I know I do. In addition, by leaving the honey unfiltered and unprocessed, all the nutritious pollen and propolis fragments remain. It is still common for farmers to skim off the wax that floats to the top. Otherwise, it is straight from the hive, as it should be. The reason unprocessed honey is so hard to find is that it is too thick to bottle by machine. This is why when I found Moorland Apiaries' "Honey In The Rough", I was ecstatic. This small farmer does the hard work that other companies will not do, bottling unprocessed honey by hand. It's simply honey from bee to you and if you have access to something like this without having to be a bee farmer, then you are truly lucky.
I am extremely thankful to have found this product, although it isn't cheap. Just over $10/glass, but it is worth it to me. I like to eat a spoonful of this after each steak that I eat so that my body can more easily digest the food. It is also a huge bonus that this stuff tastes absolutely delicious!
