I've shown you multiple beautiful spots around the island of La Palma so far... but today, I'm sharing my very favourite one and also the one that was the biggest dissapointment π
PorΓs de Candelaria
This place that I called "the pirate cave" (try to guess why!) was my absolutely favourite spot in La Palma. The road to get there was the worst though and I'm glad I wasn't driving. π
The cave is hidden under a huge cliff and acommodates a few tiny houses that look as if they're glued to the rock! The ocean forms a small bay here, hence it can be much calmer than the open waters (but not always, so be careful) and the water is absolutely beautiful. You can jump in from the rocks, or use a ladder to climb up or down, and enjoy this beautiful and unique place.
I advise you to come around midday or even later: as the cave is quite closed and headed west, it can be dark and chilly before the sun gets in there.
Cascada de Colores
Well, that didn't turn out as I expected. π Just look at the pictures: how different the promotional looks from what it was like in reality! A typical "Don't trust what you see on the internet" situation. It was still interesting as the water was coloured in deep orange (due to sulfur), but so not worth the 5 kilometre hike.
Would you like to visit any of those places yourself? Or have you already?
