A Quick Escapade to an Open Beach in Lobo, Batangas, Philippines
Since we had a whole-day blackout, we have thought of going to a beach in Lobo, Batangas. We have heard from a friend that there is a beautiful open beach there - no entrance fees and only 2 hours away from our place. We got excited with this news so we prepared and left in a jiffy.
It's really nice to travel in the provinces, especially those far from a city or a bustling town. There is no heavy traffic. And the sceneries along the way are really captivating.
However, there are many zigzags, some rough roads, and even landslide-prone areas, so it is not advisable for novice drivers or vehicles with worn tires.
WARNING: if you are going to Lobo, Batangas via Laiya, San Juan, Batangas, then I highly suggest skipping the trip when it is raining heavily or if it was raining continuously for days. It's because there are many landslide-prone areas. We even saw small and large rock debris on the roadsides.
Soon enough, we arrived but settled down to an area a bit away from the exact map location since Waze wants us to spend another 15 minutes of travel when we only have little time left to spend.
We arrived with only a few hours of daylight left. And as soon as we saw the beach, we were all amazed. It was surrounded by coconut trees nearby, and the mountain ranges from the distance. There weren't even any noticeable man-made structures along the coast.
This beach is quite unique. There's almost no sand at all! The ground is made up of small round stones and pebbles in brown orange, gray, and white. It's great that they are not sharp. But still painful to walk in barefoot. And the water - the water is very clear! But not as blue as the sky because of the looming rain clouds and the gray-toned pebbles.
One of the best things is that we were the only people at the beach.
It was definitely worth our time going here even just for a few hours. The scenery is magnificent, and the water is perfect.
CONS:
- There are no toilets. It's up to you how you will work it out. LOL! Maybe in the correct map location, there is already one.
- There will be no shades when the sun is high, except for the coconut trees near the road. Again, maybe because we weren't in the exact map location.
- There are no stores nearby, so you need to bring what you can.
- You can't build a sand castle, lol. But you can make a stone one instead.
We only spent about two hours here, hanging around, playing with our kids, and swimming. We just really want to see the place so that the next time we come back we would already know the way. We might be back in the next weekend, so the complete details of this location will be in my next blog.
