A few days stand between my fiancé Tiffany and my return to workout under the orange lights. To say, my stomach is twisting in a knot would be an understatement. Most of the last three months recovering from the car accident and going through physical therapy, dealing with MRI's and X-Rays, meeting with specialists caused more anxiety than the pain itself.
Four days away.
We have three sessions booked, which is not our normal routine. We usually do 6 out of 7 days, but it only makes sense to ease into it. Tiffa and I decided to take a day off after each session for the first week and debating if that Saturday be our first back to back days or just take Saturday off and workout Sunday where the day off after each session during the first 7 days back would be a smarter approach.
I was looking through my iPhone's camera roll searching for the perfect picture to represent a photo that gave meaning to this post. If you know Orlando, Florida well and have frequented Lake Eola Park, this view is of Downtown Orlando where it's really not that far from the park.
Also, if you carefully look at the photo you will notice a single swan not too far away from a bevy of swans.
I found the picture to hold true to how I feel today. We are in the middle of the week and at this point I like to kind of settle into my thoughts and review how my week is going and if I'm satisfied with the trajectory and I'm honestly happy with the week so far. It doesn't hurt to have that extra pep in my step knowing that I will be back in my element come Monday.
The craziest part of it all. I am well into my eighth year as a member of Orangetheory Fitness and Tiffa's seventh year and combined we have done over 5000 workouts and have gone to nearly 40 studios including all those in Central Florida a bunch more across Florida and a few in Chicago, Washington DC and Texas and have worked out for 200 coaches and I am nervous about our first day back.
It will feel like we are newbies, as we will be going to our home fitness studio and working out for one of our favorite coaches and who happens to be the head coach at the Nona North location.
I have no doubt that we will be tentative doing the things we have done thousands of times before, but I'm sure once that first bead of sweat trickles down my face; I will feel more than alive.
