I'm not typically very vocal about politics or anything else associated with it, but I can't help myself. In light of the recent election, I haven't been able to function properly for the past few days. Nothing political has ever had such an impact on me.
I am not yet eligible to vote, but I have been supporting certain candidates for the 2022 election. I have to admit that I am disappointed and dismayed that people did not recognize what I saw in these people I've supported most specifically Vp Leni Robredo. She may not have won the election, but she has won my heart and the hearts of many others. Nobody can take away the hope and inspiration she has provided to many Filipinos, including me.
I'm still in the process of acceptance, but to those who supported other candidates, I just want to say that despite our differing political viewpoints, respect remains intact. Congratulations to our new President and those who won the election 2022. I join my fellow Filipinos in praying and hoping that the next six years will be prosperous for all of us.
Many people have asked me, "Why am I taking the election so seriously?" All I can say is that I did not use my voice just for personal advantage. Not just for my own future, but also for the future of our country. I am fortunate enough to be able to claim that I am privileged. I am well aware that many of my countrymen are underprivileged. Therefore, I opted to use and will continue to use my voice for them.
The 2022 election has been a tremendous eye-opener for me. I've been so skeptical about our country. I've lived in the Philippines since the day I was born, and I can tell you that it's far from ideal. I've witnessed the chaos that exists here, but it doesn't change the fact that I was born and raised here. I love my country and care about it. I've understood that what I'm striving for isn't just about me or what I want to be; it's about what my nation needs me to be. I am certain that I was born to serve. Patriotism is flowing through my veins.
I will not let the lives lost in the struggle for our freedom and future be in vain. I will stand by what Mother Teresa said-"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples." I will continue to fight for what I believe to be right and just. I will not let anyone rob me of my hope. I believe that change is possible as long as there are people willing to stand by and fight for what is right and just. I thank, VP Leni, for the hope and inspiration she has given me; I'll keep it close to my heart so that I'll never forget it.
I wish to show those who deny us patriotism that we know how to die for our country and convictions.” -Dr. Jose Rizal
And just a friendly reminder not to give up hope. Let us keep being good, if not better, citizens of our country. I am a Filipino, loud and proud!
