I collect medals. I am an athlete as you probably already know from previous posts. I love competition and even though I am not yet in the lead, I still love competitions and races.
At first, I started with running competitions, it's much easier to start there, I had a lot of starts mainly at 5 kilometers. In practically all competitions, you get a medal just for finishing the race, and for taking a place on the podium, you also get a statuette. I will not count how many medals I have, because there are many of them, but I have two statuettes. One commemorates my 500 km cycling trip and the other one for the triathlon competition where we won 2nd place on the podium in the relay race.
Coming back to medals, since last year I have been competing in triathlons rather than just running, but there are some. I have a special shelf in my room where I keep all the medals. I also have a hook on which a medal from the last competition hangs until it is replaced by another one. Now, in this place, there is one of my favorites because, from 1/2 Ironman in Malbork, the great effort I put during that start reminds me every time I look at the medal.
I am also very proud of it for the marathon. By the way, it is probably the biggest of my medals. Running 42195 meters is a big challenge, even for people who move a little. The first half was simple, that ordinary 21-kilometer run, pleasant and without pain. The pain started from the 30th kilometer just like the whole marathon. Many runners say that this is when the actual race starts. Around the 34th kilometer, there was a wall, but I managed to fight it and reached the finish line. At the finish line, I had tears of happiness, yes, I cried of happiness.
One day, I will make a big shelf where I will have all my medals, even if it has to take the whole wall, I want to do it, because sport is my passion and a way to better health.
