On the second day of the #Hivearoundtheworld challenge, we were invited to share an object that accompanies us every day. The first thing I thought of was a cell phone because in these times we live in, it's a very necessary item for communication and work; we can't live without it anymore.
But I kept thinking and remembered something I've had in my wallet since 1988. When I change my wallet, it goes into the new one. Yes, believe me, it's true, it's been with me every day for 37 years. I've done the math now, haha. It's a small copper stone from the mines of Santiago de Cuba, where the Basilica of Our Lady of Copper is located.
I've had it since I visited this church as part of my journey, which began with the climb to Pico Turquino, Cuba's highest mountain. We spent four days in that eastern Cuban province, and of course I couldn't miss visiting our patron saint, the Virgin of Charity, also known as Oshún, due to its syncretism with the African religion.
When you visit the cathedral, you can take home a small piece of copper stone as a souvenir. The stone I have is pure copper; it's beautiful, with a metallic sheen typical of copper. The ones visitors get these days are almost copper-free. I know this because my son went a few years ago and brought back one that looks nothing like mine—mine is unique and beautiful!
And I'll tell you more, it's traveled with me to other countries as well, so it's an inseparable part of me, haha.

En el segundo día del reto #Hivearoundtheworld, nos invitan a compartir un objeto que nos acompañe día a día. Lo primero que pensé fue el teléfono celular porque en estos tiempos que vivimos es un artículo muy necesario para comunicarnos y para trabajar, ya no sabemos vivir sin él.
Pero seguí pensando y recordé algo que tengo en mi cartera desde 1988, cuando cambio de cartera va a habitar la nueva, sí, créanme que es cierto, desde hace 37 años me acompaña cada día, ahora he sacado la cuenta jajaja.
Se trata de una pequeña piedra de cobre de las minas de Santiago de Cuba donde se encuentra la Basílica Nuestra Señora del Cobre.
La tengo desde que visité esta iglesia como parte de mi recorrido que comenzó con la escalada al Pico Turquino, la montaña más alta que tiene Cuba. Estuvimos 4 días en esa provincia del oriente cubano y por supuesto que no podía dejar de visitar a nuestra patrona, la Virgen de la Caridad, conocida también como Oshún, debido al sincretismo con la religión africana.
Cuando vas a visitar la catedral te puedes llevar como recuerdo un pedacito de piedra de cobre. La piedra que tengo es de cobre puro, es hermosa, con un brillo metálico propio del cobre. Las que obtienen en la actualidad los visitantes ya no tienen casi cobre, lo sé porque mi hijo fue hace pocos años y trajo una que no se parece en nada a la mía, ¡la mía es única y hermosa!
Y les digo más, ha viajado conmigo a otros países también, o sea, es parte inseparable de mí jajaja.
