Loveeee this kind of place. It's not just a meal but it's a whole experience dining with such a scenery.
These past years, Thai people are all about this. Cafes & restaurants in a rice field, cedar forest, farm, garden and so on. I think people start to appreciate nature or just want to have pretty photos for social medias. Either way, we start to see more and more places that located just in the middle of no where or right on the right field (again, as mentioned) just for people to be closer to the mother earth.
Khok Sam Rong, Lopburi.. This city is not famous at all even among Thai people. I know about the city just because my bording highschool was in that city. One day I just missed my old friend and we met up spontaneously. She took us to this new place that's opened not so long ago in Khok Sam Rong, with the same concept of dining in the nature! The place called 'Krua Ban Khok'
There's a main area with a few tables and also a few of these private shacks with private tables if this heat, you could handle. We just couldn't so we stayed in the main area which is good enough already as we can still see the whole beautiful scenery all around.
I was happy with the way we ordered. We got a spicy dish, mild dish, deep fried, stir fry and soup so it's more like a bit of everything.
'Yam Phak Whan' - Yam means spicy stir-fry, and pak wan is this specific kind of vegetable that's not so easy to find unless you're real close to the mountain or forest. Good crunch and quite sweet!
Then Cashew fish. This one I think I could just 'ditto' as I think it should be served at all Thai restaurants abroad. Just in case some of you don't know though, it's a sweet and sour stir fry with pieces of deep fried fish (normally it's widely served with chicken), the gimmick is the cashew nut! Gives the dish such texture and unique test. I myself like to chew everything in one bite and that dried chili included. Flavorful!
Deep fried pork belly might sound like such a basic dish but if you order at the right places, this dish can be so good as you might have heard, the simplest, the best. This one dish's that.
Tom zab! Hot and sour soup. Nope, not tom yum.. just slightly different with a few herbs they put in the bowl. Totally a good one to clean your palette before the next bite.
Totally a great place to come chill and chat with family or friends like we just did with our highschool friend gathering.
