Veinte años después estaba nuevamente frente a aquel espejo. Cuando niña, su abuela le había dicho que no se quedara mirándolo porque le absorbería el alma. “Son cosas de abuelas” le comentó su padre, pero ella le huyó porque cuando su abuela murió, le dijeron que se había ido, pero que su alma seguía dentro del espejo porque nunca dejó de mirarlo.
Ahora estaba allí, sola, había llegado primero que sus hermanos, en la espera llegó al cuarto de la abuela, tomó el espejo y la sensación de miedo apareció, pero se dio valor porque ya no era una niña.
Cuando sus hermanos llegaron, vieron su cartera en el recibo, subieron a los cuartos, encontraron el espejo tirado en la cama y al lado, un zapato que aún guardaba el calor tibio de sus pies.

El menor fue a buscarla en las otras habitaciones, el que quedó allí gritó su nombre, y una voz le respondió, el hermano se agachó para ver debajo de la cama. La voz volvió a llamarlo y esta vez levantó las cobijas y solo cuando lo llamaron por tercera vez se dio cuenta de que la voz sonaba debajo del espejo, no, no era debajo, sino dentro del espejo.
El cuarto grito lo espantó, vio la sombra moviéndose dentro del cristal, intentó llamar a su hermano, pero se ahogó en su propia voz, el espejo no quería soltarle la mirada, hizo un esfuerzo por soltarse y partió el espejo, al suelo empezó a caer un hilo de sangre y mientras forcejeaban, llegó el hermano, que al ver que su hermano mayor estaba maltratando a su hermana, se abalanzó sobre él; los tres rodaron hasta la ventana que con el impulso cedió y uno de los cuerpos se fue al precipicio.
