Dear Hive Community,
the Hivetorch which started in May 2020, had recently its 100th transfer - a major milestone on the way to 333 (and beyond?).
In case you were not aware, the Hivetorch is a social experiment to show, if it is possible that one Hive user sends a number of Hive to someone trustful who will be then the next Hivetorch keeper and so forth and try to do as many transfers as possible without breaking the chain.
Read more about it including the few rules here.
Some Stats
So far the Hivetorch went through 98 keepers (only @meesterboom and myself got it twice) and virtually over the whole globe almost without hickups (well, once the torch was stuck almost for 2 months somewhere in Italy, but at the end it could be worked out, let´s blame Corona😃).
For those 100 transfers it took 119 days, almost 4 months (in fact 2 month only if we exclude that event in Italy), that´s 0,8 hops per day. But there were also single days where we had 8 and even 9 transfers!
On average 0,74 Hive were added in each transfer (the guidance is between 0 and 1). It is really not about the money, the task is more to have fast transfers. Also the higher the sum the higher the risk a user would diappear with it, at least theoretically. But I believe in this community and don´t expect such a scenario.
Countries
These are the countries where the Hivetorch has been already (as far as I could detect from the users profile page). App. 10 to 20% of the accounts have not specified their location, so this list might be missing one or another country (if you know that a country is missing, please let me know in the comments!):
Austria > Germany > UK > USA > Australia > Germany > Romania > Spain > Italy > Austria > Germany > South Africa > Sweden > Bangladesh > Portugal > USA > Australia > USA > UK > Italy > Portugal > Netherlands > Germany > France > UK > France > Russia > Czech Rep. > South Africa > Austria > Canada > USA > Thailand > Australia > UK > USA > UK > Switzerland > Nigeria > Pakistan > UK > Lithuania
That´s at least 23 different countries on 5 continents! What an amazing journey so far and proof that Hive is a global community. Seems that until now the most cross-country transfers went to UK, apparently one of the most active Hive communities! Also quite obvious that Africa, South America and Asia (and also Eastern Europe) are grossly underrepresented so far. We´ll see how it will look like after 200 stations...
Which still missing countries will be the next ones? Any guesses?
Thanks for all Torch keepers for participation and passing on the Torch to help to achieve this community goal!
It is a true win-win thing. It shows that we are a trustful community and besides it creates a lot of posts, interactions and learnings from each other. E.g. for several stations the Torch was kept in the Lightpainter´s community - I was even not aware that there is such a vivid community on Hive. Thus the Hivetorch makes also the world a little smaller!
The List
Here the complete list of all the transfers by now:
Soon to be outdated, I will keep the list updated on the initial post. Check it out from time to time!
The Artwork
Since one of the rules also encourages to create a torch-related post including a picture showing a torch and the Hive logo, there was already quite some outstanding creativity in making new Hivetorch pictures. A big hug to all the creators!!
Here is a summary (I hope I didn´t miss one):
