Hello, Hive Community.
Who is Agbani?
My name is Amaminiefa Winnie Goodnews, also known as Agbani. I am a Nigerian, I was born and brought up in Bayelsa state. A place covered with water and less land, the uniqueness of nature can be derived in my state it’s a beautiful place and I’ll recommend that anyone visit it.
I’m the last child of my mother out of seven my mother birthed (4 boys and 3 girls). Of course my father has other children outside because he is a polygamous man and also a king, I don’t know what it is with kings and polygamy because I don’t know a king in Bayelsa who doesn’t have at least 2 wives, I think it’s a way of showing how much of a great king they are. I lived with my parents until my mother passed away 4-years ago when I gained admission into the University and that was when my real struggle began. Although I was able to push through all by myself because I didn’t have the most supportive family so I literally had to be my own motivation. I love traveling to new places somewhere different from where I have been, I love trying other cultures and making new dishes as I discover them. I love baking and trying new recipes so as to improve my culinary skills. I also know how to make hair but that’s not something I’ll like to venture into because I don’t do well with standing for long, it’s extremely exhausting for me.
What I do for fun?
I love working out and cooking. They are like my most favorite hobbies and I explore my skills by making different kinds of native dishes. I like journaling, writing poems and listening to good music and seeing movies because most times that’s where I draw inspiration from when writing a poem and also from my environment too. Meeting new people and learning new things from time to time too is also part of it. I also love to eating, feel free to call me a foodie because food is one of my love language. Funny enough, no matter how much I eat I don’t get fat and that is the reason my mother playfully calls me Agbani because I was so skinny but not anymore though. I’m an open minded person too, so l easily learn, unlearn and relearn.
Oh! My goals?
I have always wanted to be an independent person who doesn’t rely solely on others to make ends meet but I’m also open to learning from other people’s experiences in life. Helping girls become who they really want to be, that’s why I try as much as possible to do exploits every once in a year in order to make them feel love. I grew up in a family where girls are seen as just wives who will end up in a man’s kitchen so my father didn’t bother to enroll me in school after his first and second attempts with my sister were not successful because they both came home pregnant, so I stood on my ground to erase that stigma and with God by my side I am now a graduate and not just a graduate but the first female graduate in my family.
So my dream is to make young girl look beyond what they see around them and make a better life for themselves, not just letting others see them as a means to earn but to go out there to earn for themselves. Therefore creating opportunities for them to learn skills that will help them grow in life and most importantly help them survive in any situation or place they find themselves in life, offering helping hands to people who needs help as well also encouraging and supporting them in the little way I can. I didn’t live the best life growing up as a child so I will be thrilled to watch others do better than I did.
From my heart to yours!
I’m really grateful to God for using my friend @onyinye-chi to show me a place like this. Introducing me to this platform to share my thoughts and ideas. I’m also grateful to @hopestylist for assisting me in creating my account and making it possible for me to join this amazing family. I hope to make the best out of this opportunity presented to me. I’m very delighted and grateful for this avenue.
