When I decide to participate in this initiative and I look at the phrase, I can't help but research who "Alice Walker" is, so I did and I'll tell you briefly what I found on the web:
American woman writer, currently 77 years old. She has focused her writing on the struggle of African-Americans and women and the social conditions in which they have historically faced problems (racism, sexism, violence). Her best known novel is "The Color Purple" and is about the story of a woman and her struggle with the African-American patriarchy and her role as a woman in this society.
Mujer Escritora estadounidense, actualmente con 77 años de edad. Ha enfocado su escritura hacia la lucha de los afroamericanos y las mujeres y las condiciones sociales en las que se viene presentando problemas históricamente (Racismo, sexismo, violencia). Su novela mas conocida es “El Color Purpura” y trata de la historia de una mujer y su lucha con el patriarcado afroamericano y su papel como mujer en esta sociedad.

Without extending myself any further, I will express my perspective and analysis of the phrase referred to.
Personally I feel identified when reading this sentence, since I come in the search of discovering certain things about me, which are really mine and which this world in which I live has put in my head. This has implied reflecting on what I want my purposes to be and how to define my objectives so that my work and daily actions are really oriented towards that. It would be unfortunate if after struggling during the most vivid years of your life you realize that you were fighting for someone else's idea and you see yourself really alien to that.
Sin extenderme más, te expresare mi perspectiva y análisis de la frase a la que se hace referencia.
Personalmente me siento identificada al leer esta frase, ya que vengo en la búsqueda de descubrir ciertas cosas de mí, cuales son realmente mías y cuales este mundo en el que vivo ha metido en mi cabeza. Eso ha implicado reflexionar sobre cuales quiero que sean mis propósitos y como definir mis objetivos que realmente mi trabajo y actuar de cada día este orientado hacia eso. Sería lamentable que luego de luchar durante los años mas vivaces de tu vida te des cuenta que luchabas por la idea de alguien mas y te veas realmente ajeno a eso.

I believe that each one of us must evaluate that and ask ourselves, after defining it, to fight every day in that, which I believe is an important part of what defines our identity, and regardless if you never achieve what you consider to be your quest, fighting every day is quite satisfying when you are on the path that YOU defined. There is a reflection that is often made in my home and it is:
It doesn't matter who you are today. If you know who you want to be, become an actor and play every day that character you want to be. Sooner or later, you will have become that.
Considero que cada uno de nosotros debe evaluar eso y preguntárselo, luego de definirlo, militar cada día en eso, que creo que es parte importante de lo que define nuestra identidad, e independientemente que nunca llegues a lograr aquello que consideras que es tu búsqueda, el luchar cada más día es bastante satisfactorio cuando estas en el camino que TU definiste. Hay una reflexión que se hace a menudo en mi hogar y es:
No importa quien seas hoy. Si sabes quién quieres ser, conviértete en un actor e interpreta cada día ese personaje que quieres ser. Tarde o temprano, te habrás convertido en eso.
