I keep hearing that unemployment is the hardest job out there or most stressful and I don't believe so.
You have so much freedom to work on yourself or on creative projects as someone who is unemployed.
I am totally aware that this is different from people to people and even from country to country and I live in a rich country where I live on the money from my union.
But in generel, I don't see it. I might be one of the odd ones out who doesn't mind not be forced to do anything because that frees me up to do whatever I want to and I really enjoy that! Things can get boring in the long run, but its about balance.
Here is how I see it. Being unemployed gives you the same amount of freedom as someone who is a millionaire. Its all about how you use your time.
I am still aware that we need some sort of income in order to survive and that not knowing where the next income comes from can be stressful for some.
Umemployment gives you the time to get to know yourself and what you really want. It can completely change your life goal.
Coronavirus did it for me, since I got sent home from work for 5 weeks while getting paid. So those 5 weeks was really neat for me to figure out what I really wanna do or what I don't wanna do and I figured out that I wouldn't do what I was currently doing, so I quit.
Unemployment also allows you to either learn and new skills or improve your craft! This can create enormous job options for you in the future!
You can even start doing some freelance or creative work online.
Unemployment gives you more time as already stated, but this allows you to see your friends and family more often than not. It could strengthening your social skills!
- Tips:
Build a daily routine. I do this by planning my day ahead of it. Its having such a big impact on my life, I am not just being lazy, I am doing something.
This is what I do:
Daily:
07:00 - Wake up
09:00 - Breakfast
11:00 - Workout
12 - 16 - Write Applications
14:00 Lunch Break
17:00 Go shopping
17:30 Being making Dinner
18:30 Eat
20:00 Go for a Walk
12 - 16 is also where I do calls or talk the the union and such.
And thats my day.
I use Notion to keep track of this. Free app for personal use.
Most importantly, don't waste your time. Don't just sit around feeling sorry for yourself use that time to keep your head down and work on yourself or your skills.
