Wow! Where do I begin when describing how much fun paddleboarding is. @flowerbaby and I both were very curious as to whether or not we would enjoy paddleboarding; especially in comparison to kayaking, something we have done several times together.

Multiple weekends in a row we had made plans to travel to Sutton Lake to test out paddleboarding. Sadly each time we had to cancel due to bad weather. I am happy to say that this past weekend we finally were able to make a trip up to the lake and rent some paddleboards.

We made the trip just in time, @flowerbaby has a paddleboard yoga class this Friday. It is a good thing that we got to practice a little bit before that class, otherwise it would’ve been her first time on a paddleboard while at the yoga class. Hopefully she does get to go, as long as it does not get rained out. I have to work that weekend, but at least one of her best friends will get to tag along.

If she enjoys the paddleboard yoga class (which I am sure she will), then she aims to start teaching her own paddleboard yoga classes after she achieves her yoga certification later next year. She starts her yoga training mid-October.

We both were a bit nervous to get on our paddleboard’s for the first time. Plus the employees at the Sutton Lake Marina didn’t really give us much instruction, they were super laid back at least. Thankfully there was no enforcement of the statewide mask mandate. The workers all had nice tans and a positive attitude. It was a wonderful environment to spend the day in.

There were loads of boats at the marina and plenty of ducks and fish as well. Some of the fish were bigger than @flowerbaby’s legs. This scared her a little bit, but eventually we both got in the middle of the lake and swam in between paddling on our boards.

Rightfully there was a giant area of open water where boats were not allowed to go fast, so we had no problem with traffic or big waves knocking us off balance. Surprisingly we both were able to stand up on our paddle boards with no problem and get going right away. Then again a part of me is not shocked, considering we both practice yoga often and have stellar balance.

I was astonished that I had never been to Sutton Lake before, it was such a beautiful place. Not only thanks to paddle boarding, but all different types of water activities and the nature. I would love to go back again, hopefully this summer.
