Hi again, my friends! I’m back with another post about Iran. This time, I want to write about all the Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf where tourists can visit. These islands have their own unique vibes, and each one has something special to offer. I’ll name them all and explain what they’re like so you know what to expect if you ever decide to visit!
I wrote brief information about all of these 11 islands. Some are well-known and famous among tourists, while others are more untouched and natural but not as developed. Kish Island, Qeshm Island, Hormuz Island, Hengam Island, Larak Island, Abu Musa Island, Lavan Island, Farur Island (Big & Small Farur), Shidvar Island (Maru), Hendurabi Island, Nakhlio Island.
1- Kish Island
A well known tourist spot with warm weather, beautiful beaches, and lots of fun activities.

This is a top view of Toranj Hotel (There are more than 5 famous hotels On Kish Island, but I chose Toranj Hotel which has a style like Maldives hotels)

This is a photo of the seaside, rocks, and a Greek ship, which became famous after it ran aground due to engine failure in the 1960s and was abandoned, now a popular tourist attraction in Kish.

There you can explore the Kariz Underground City, visit the famous Greek Ship, check out Dolphin Park, or try water sports like jet skiing, diving, and boating. Also, don’t miss the modern shopping malls!

2- Qeshm Island
The biggest island in Iran, full of untouched nature and amazing landscapes.

In Qeshm you can walk through the stunning Star Valley, explore the Hara Mangrove Forests, visit Namakdan Salt Cave, and check out Naz Islands. The local markets and water activities are also worth experiencing!

The ones I’ve listed below are less touristic but have more natural and untouched places.
3- Hormuz Island
A magical place with vibrant, colorful soil, offering a completely unique and untouched natural landscape.
This is Rainbow Valley on Hormuz (This is a unique natural site, known for its colorful rock formations that create a beautiful landscape, attracting visitors from all over.)

There you can Visit the famous Red Beach, explore Rainbow Valley and Statue Valley, check out the Portuguese Castle, and try the local food, especially the traditional bread made with red soil!

4 - Hengam Island
A small and peaceful island, perfect for nature lovers.
Let me say what you can expect there, well, you can go dolphin watching, walk along the Silver Beach, visit the local market, and spot some rare wildlife like the Persian gazelle.

This is Glowing Beaches of Hengam (famous for its bioluminescent plankton that light up the shoreline at night, creating a magical glowing effect in the water.)

And these Islands are less famous and less touristics:
5 - Larak Island
Larak Island is a hidden paradise, offering serene, uncrowded beaches similar to those of Qeshm, where you can enjoy pristine sandy shores, swim in crystal-clear waters, and experience a peaceful, tranquil atmosphere away from the crowds.
6- Abu Musa Island
Somehow Abu Musa is a restricted island due to its strategic location in the Persian Gulf, with territorial disputes between Iran and the United Arab Emirates. , However, Iran currently administers the island and has maintained control over it for many years. The UAE also claims the island, but Iran's historical and administrative presence there is a key factor in the ongoing territorial dispute. The island has historical significance to Iran, with remnants of Persian culture and history found there.
Still I have to add that it has peaceful beaches, people enjoy the sea views, and take in the tranquility. It’s a less touristy island but has a lot to offer in terms of calmness and natural beauty.
7- Lavan Island
Lavan Island is a peaceful destination with beautiful sandy beaches. While access is generally restricted to tourists, you can visit the island by obtaining permission from the relevant authorities.
You can Walk along the untouched beaches, see traditional pearl diving areas, and just enjoy the peaceful nature.
8- Farur Island (Big & Small Farur)
Here is a photo of this beautiful island: one provides a full view, while the other features a gazelle, one of the animals that inhabit Farur.
One of the least explored islands, with pure untouched nature.
What will you expect there? It is Perfect for diving, nature walks, and spotting wildlife in a place where hardly anyone goes.
9- Shidvar Island (Maru)
A protected island and home to sea turtles.
You can Snorkel in clear waters, see rare wildlife, and enjoy the mix of rocky and sandy beaches.

10- Hendurabi Island
A small, peaceful island with a completely relaxing atmosphere, where you can even enjoy cycling. I thought it would be nice to share a video of this beautiful island so you can experience the tranquil vibe of this place.

In Hendurabi Island you can camp on the beach, go fishing, and just enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
11- Nakhlio Island
A protected natural area, mostly known for its birdlife. (Due to its relatively low tourist traffic, Nakhilloo Island retains a natural charm and is an excellent destination for those interested in exploring Iran's lesser-known coastal areas.)
This Island is a small, uninhabited island known for its natural beauty and serene environment. If you love birdwatching and wild nature, this is the place! It’s also got some beautiful untouched beaches.
