What's Buzzing Friends...

Who amongst us hasn't laid on their back in a grassy field, gazed up at the blue sky and looked at clouds floating by? These soft and fluffy giants, these rabbits of the sky. They look so light, floating above us like cotton defying laws of physics. But you know what... They can crush you flat.

Researchers have discovered that most standard sized clouds (* if there is a thing such as a "standard size" cloud), could weigh around 1.1 million pounds (498,951.6 kg) (source). That's a whole lotto' cloud right there.

Even with their enormous weight, clouds are still lighter than the air beneath them so they stay buoyant on top of that air pressure. Science is amazing!

Next time You Are Laying on That Grassy Field Looking up at beautiful clouds in the Sky, realize they are the silent killer. Just like your Aunt Betty who sat on you and nearly killed you when you were 5, clouds are just like that. They can descendent at any moment, crushing you flat.
