How are you doing today? How's work too? I bring to us a topic that is worth paying close attention to, owing to the fact that we all wake up early in the morning to go to work and come back late in night, some people even stay up all night working all in a bid to make ends meet. But does is mean we have attained success in our career? Okay, let's start like this: What is career success?
It may be quite difficult to define career success. The meaning would definitely differ from person to person. Each person has a different approach to defining whether or not they are successful in their careers. Although there is one thing that I feel is common to everyone and that is the fact that we all want to be happy with we do every day. Nobody would want to ever stay in a job or career path that s/he is not enjoying. YOLO. We only live once, so why spend time in a job that doesn't give you happiness?

I attended a Youth program in my church on Career sometimes ago and I could recall the speaker say to all of us that the most important thing is to choose our occupation or career wisely. He said we should not proceed in any career until we have asked ourselves some questions and provided answers to them.
- Can I do this everyday, for many years without regretting?
- What would be my motivation whenever I'm feeling down?
- Do I have what it takes to perform well in this field?
In choosing a career, ensure it suits your person, personality, interests and so on. It is advisable to conduct a self assessment on yourself - there are tons of online self assessment portals you can use.

In addition, don't let anybody make your choice for you. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying don't listen to advices from parents, mentors, coaches etc but never let them make your choice for you. Some people would convince you into a particular field saying there are lots of opportunities in the field or you'd earn so much even if you don't like the job. Sometimes it's not about money. What's the essence of working without happiness? Your career choice is a personal decision you make after you might have considered so many options.
