The Shellfish Festival 2022 is going on in Mandal from 11 August to 14 August 2022. This festival has been a rich in tradition festival, and the festival which is constantly developing to be the food- and culture festival which one considered by the startup for more than 30 years ago. And this festival is largest on seafood in Norway! And that is a great event with the shellfish festival!
The entire town centeris tranformed to a large festival area during the period when the festival is happening with a bustling life and southern mood 4 days to go. And the festival is always the second weekend in August.
The shellfish festival is funny, exciting and interesting, and there are closely 60 000 humans that is visiting Mandal during these days. The whole of Bryggegata is filled with restaurant tents, entertainment, concerts, tivoli, food market, exhibitions, cooking school for children, WC in shrimb nupping, street food, street musicians, sales stalls, and not least fantastic shopping offers in the town's shops open at night, and much, much more!
The shellfish festival is about many things that we are finding in the salt water as for instance shrimbs, crabs, fishes, crayfish, mussels, lobster and several other things. The shellfish festival offers quantities of tasty dishes from the ocean combined with the best of local ingredients, and a number of input of exotic flavors with influence from around the world. This in combination with entertainment from known artists, and this is about several arrangements that are made for a memorable experience. Any human should be welcome to Mandal, and we are larger than Seafood from Norway!
There will be several music artists in The shellfish festival as for instance Chris Holsten, Sol Heilo, Chris Grey & The BlueSband, TIX, Staysman and many more people and they are showing to you that this festival is a memorable experience.
The shellfish festival has many activities, and there are several known personalities coming from Mandal, like for example Gustav Vigeland, Amaldus Nielsen, Søren Jaabæk, Kjell Askildsen and several more persons. And Thorbjørn Egner, the known author in Norway, had several cottages in Mandal. Thorbjørn Egner had cottages at Gismerøya, and his family had three cottages, and there were talking about a fourth cottage. And one of these four cottages has been burnt to the ground. But the persons that are mentioned are the most known personalities in Mandals stories and history.
