Top 3 Places You Would Like to Visit is the Day 8 topic for 30-Day Blogging Challenge by @tegoshei. It is rather difficult to narrow down the places I want to see into a mere three. I had to think long and hard and weigh their pros and cons to be able to come up with this list
Food & Soju Crawl in South Korea
I discovered Korean series during the pandemic quarantine. (Yes CLOY and Goblin were to blame) I am guilty of binge-watching till wee hours of the morning. Often, I had a steaming bowl of ramyeon noodles (Korean spicy ramen soup) in front of the telly. Is it just me or I find myself craving with hunger for their fried chicken and lettuce wrapped grilled meat?
If I were to go there , I would indulge in a Food Crawl, visiting various places shown in the series I have been watching and the food they have featured there:
- Itaewon Class, Sauntering through the streets of Itaewon trying out pubs and restaurants. Feast on Soft Tofu Stew with shots of soju. The location of Park Saeroyi's DanBam (Oriole). I will film running through the streets here to match the trailer.
- Crash Landing on You (CLOY), Did you see the South Korean vs North Korean Fried Chicken? The crunchy coated fried chicken with gulps of their local beer Oh, the clam barbecue! What about the Kimchi stored underground due to absence of refrigerator?
- Wok With Love This was one h*ll of a mouth watering series that will leave you salivating! Everything was set inside the restaurant kitchens for a battle of the chefs. Chinese -Korean fusion cuisine in all its glory. Dimsum played a major role. However, Jajangmyeon, a black bean noodle dish with black bean sauce, pork and vegetables; Jjampong, spicy seafood noodle soup; and Tangsuyuk, meat dish with sweet and sour sauce - all stole the spotlight.
- What's Wrong with Secretary Kim and My Love from the Star , even an alien would eat Ramyeon noodles
- Weight lifiting Fairy Kim Bok Joo and *Fight For My Way *feature Tteokbokki, Korean street food; Odeng, fish cakes; and Samgyeopsal, grilled pork belly barbecue
- Full House, Bibimbap, a mixed rice bowl with korean chili paste - Gochugang. Sales of gochugang probably skyrocketed in the Philippines after watching this series.
- Mystic Pop Up Bar and She Was Pretty, Soju Tent experience; Kimbap a stuffed triangular shaped rice roll and street food
- Hi Bye Mama, seaweed soup
- When the Camellia Blooms, Mandu, Korean Dumplings were witness to the romance of the 2 lead characters.
- Touch Your Heart and The Goblin Hanok style coffee shop - White Burch Story Tea Cafe
Not to mention the Ginseng juice they suck on in those slender individual strips.
Jeju Island and Namiseom Island's line of trees should both be a part of the itinerary. This includes Han River Bridge, waiting in bus stops, Namsan Seoul Tower, Hanok village, Korean Cherry Tree, the palaces and many more. I have learned all of these from watching K-drama, a habit that I have only picked up last March 2020.
Ultimate Family Road Trip Around Scandinavia
Destinations would be Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. It would be cross country driving from France going up north. We watched a travel documentary by the Hairy Bikers and we were inspired by it. However, for comfort, we would like to do it in a car.
I still haven't mapped out how the route will be but it should cover Norway's Fjordlands; Atlantic Road in Norway; Galdhøpiggen, the highest drive-able mountain peak in Norway; the mountain roads and lakeside towns from Oslo to Helsinki; Höga Kusten the world's highest coastline drive in Sweden, Coastline drive from Copenhagen back to Oslo which includes the charming city of Malmö and scenic Gothenburg of Sweden. Stockholm would be a furniture trip for me visiting various shops and even factories.
It will be a road trip of discovering sights, cuisine and the breathtaking landscape that we'd find on the road. Aurora Borealis, the Northern lights will definitely be the highlight of the itinerary.
Motorbike Cross Country in the United States
Driving on a motorbike from East Coast to West Coast.
It starts from New York State on Route 6 driving down along the Atlantic Coast towards North Carolina and South Carolina. Joining the Southern Pacific Route 11 in Georgia, passing through Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. After heading up to **Great River Road **that passes through Arkansas and Missouri then turning left towards the Historic Route 66 passing through the Grand Canyon all the way to Los Angeles, California.
If there is still enough time, continuing the drive towards the Pacific Coast, a quarter of which we have already seen but it would be a great opportunity to continue all the way up to Oregon and Seattle, Washington.
My honorable mentions are: Provence and South East France Road Trip and French Canada - Montréal and Québec
Why not dream big, right?
