Gross travel ban, including domestic & international, complete lockdown, and a quarantine life for almost all individuals barring a few. So Govt has resorted to all legal options they could, to dispel the Corona threat, yet the numbers are rising, India recorded the biggest ever positive number of cases in the last 24 hours (760 positive cases). I don’t really know in which stage the spread is. The Govt is not even clueless about the community spread. But the numbers are rising and that is not a good sign.
The gross figure across the world is freaking and that also gives limited evidence of the effectiveness of the various measures. The number of deaths across the globe has already reached 0.1 million. That’s huge. The unemployment rate is rising like never before. Last week unemployment figures in the United States reported to 6600K. That’s really steep. If you think this is just a haunch, then you are wrong. When the corona will be over, I don’t think we will be going back to the same risk appetite. The world and economy as we know may not be the same. The steep rise of employment may correct, but it may not get back to normal in a short period of time. It may take longer than we anticipate. The risk aversion may continue to remain for some time.
Some central bankers are considering their own version of digital currencies(cryptos). Paper currency can potentially a medium of coronavirus spread. The micro-organism can stay up to 15 days in Paper currency. Some of the nearby vendors and grocery shops are not taking paper notes, fearing the Corona threat and they only accept scanning QR code and paying via an App. During Pandemic, people are getting aware of the usefulness of digital payment, so the day will come when they will grossly use crypto as mainstream utility coin.
So amid Coronabirus pandemic, the lockdown, the quarantine life now seems frustrating, irritating like never before. Locking oneself within just four walls has made the life one-way and that one-way life is damn boring. Every now and then I recollect my regular life of routine duties, one thing I can recognize, even though it was routine and to some extent boring too, it was dynamic, and that dynamic factor is what I yearn to bring it back to my life.
The social domain is always accustomed to recurring duties. When something Corona like upheaval comes, the society does not digest it first, later goes through historical changes, most might not have even witnessed such things in their lifetime, better or worse, only time can tell.
This is not a terrorist attack, nor just a global economic recession, it is way beyond that. And being invisible, it will also be a tougher task for the crisis experts to identify reasons and make someone accountable for it.
There is a fabric to which every one of us is adhered to or binding to in some form or the other. But remember, such protuberance of a pandemic may also lead us to an abnormal fabric. The fabric could rip apart. The various factions of a society may create conflict, that is where the threat of radical change in the society may emerge in. As the fundamental reason for such a colossal crisis is unknown, it will be difficult to counter and curb the potential radical change in society. Do note that the fundamental reason for Corona is unknown but the impact is going to hit us hard fundamentally. People may struggle for basic necessities. That necessity is not just for the period of the lockdown, rather for an uncertain period after the lockdown.
I fear it could potentially inflate xenophobia. You may see the Govt to Govt cooperation among various countries across the globe, but the actual people to people interaction & cooperation in the physical world may feather away. What the future holds for all of us tomorrow, post-pandemic, we don’t really know.
So when Corona ends………
The first thing I will do is to distribute sweets in my locality and to everyone I know in my social sphere. Hey, it’s not a joke or fun. The pandemic effect as positioned now, if it ends with a definite timeline, it’s no less than winning a world war. The effect may even be worse than we anticipate and may take significant time to recover, but once we see a full-stop to it, it is definitely a moment to rejoice and celebrate. Embrace your near & dear ones, say thank you, meet the vulnerable ones in the society, and express solidarity.
Although I have a regular job and as Govt has instructed not to lay off anyone as per the factory act & establishment act, I still feel the need for a secondary source of a genuine income. Hiving, Blogging is fine, but I want to make myself more self-sufficient through an off-line secondary means. I need to work out on it after making SWOT analysis. In which secondary area I can venture into to generate a secondary income in addition to the main-stream job, is my second to-do list. I have felt the need for such a source. I can see an uncertain fear among the working group of people. I can sense the same right now. It may not be an immediate requirement. But the pandemic has made me feel that a secondary source is exigent.
I am missing my fitness routine. I run at least 7 Km every day; amid lockdown, I have not run for one month. I want to run hard & resume my fitness & running schedule as soon as I could. So this will be my third priority, this time it will make it harder than ever. I strongly feel that regular running makes me fit and boost my immune system. I love aerobic activities outdoor. When you find the greenery while running, it feels like nature is also running with you. That is why I love outdoor running. That is not just good for physical fitness, mental wellbeing too.
