The idea behind the lyric is when you love someone more than they love you. And if they aren't into the relationship like you are, then you would let them leave and "spread their wings". That's how much you love that person - you would accept they don't love you the same way.
Your version reminds us a bit of Joni Mitchell's song - I Can't Make You Love Me. Just gorgeous! Thanks again for sharing. Absolutely love it!! <3
