The tale says that the original Bitcoin was thought as a currency for the world, a coin that would cross borders and would be used for transparent transactions, that would not need trust nor the custody of banks.
The tale also says that it worked really well for a while, but at a time the speed couldn't manage the volume, increasing costs. There was a fight, and a split. And this is how Bitcoin Cash came to be.
Bitcoin of course survived the split, and kept adding adepts until becoming what it is now, digital gold.
Bitcoin Cash never completely came out from the shadow of the older brother and it's hanging in there, with the tenacity and resiliency of the underdogs and the dream of being not the gold, but the cash of the world.
Usually considered a lesser coin and frown upon repeatedly, you are going to find many that are upset with its sole existence, more or less repeating the pattern of the old days where the nobility stored gold, and the common folk traded in salt (did you know that the word sal-ary comes from salt?).
Bitcoin Cash, like Bitcoin, has a max number of coins to be created, and it happens to be the same number of 21 Mill. It also has the halving thing, and it's even written in the same language called Solidity. What's the difference then? In practical terms it is a lot faster and the transactions are a lot cheaper, in the order of cents.
Bitcoin Cash is 24 in Coingecko in Marketcap, but it is 11 in traded volume of the last 24 hours at the moment of writing this. Why? I don't claim to know all the reasons but my guess goes on the line of smart contracts. Since September more or less, there is a side chain called Smart BCH, that runs smart contracts using BCH as fuel for transactions.
Since then, things around BCH are moving fast and DeFi is exploding. True to its origins, Smart BCH opens the door to investors big, small and tiny. It's a platform where anyone with 5 bucks to spare can start learning the ropes of investing, literally.
