There are 78 keys in MacBook Air and all are useful but there are some keys which are being use to repair the Apple notebook or desktop. Today i am selected 4 keys that are actually very important in technical perspective and those are Option, Command, P and R. I know there are various hive owners who uses Apple MacBook or Mac Pro hence decided to write something technical today whatever i know.
As i have already told that i was a certified Apple technician some years ago and was working with a company which was Apple Authorized Service Provider and that time i had repaired many MacBook and Mac Pros hence i have a good Apple device users as permanent customers and time to time they contact me to get their device repair now they don't call to that Company but call to me.
Yesterday one of them called me to check his MacBook Air issues but i deny to visit his home hence he sent that in my Store. According to him he has problem in startup and keyboard in simple way the system was hanging. Finally i repaired it successfully and got paid already.
Now lets talk about the 4 keys...
I would like to say that these 4 keys are used to reset NVRAM (Non-Volatile Random Access Memory) and in older Mac system it was known as PRAM (Parameter Random Access Memory) both has the same function and they generally stores the system users setting on it so that machine can start fast. When there is something wrong in stored settings then it can problem in startup showing only an Apple Logo or a question mark(?) or white gray screen only. If you see this type of issue in your mac device then you can try to fix it using the mentioned keys. There is some methods to use these keys and i am going to tell that ahead.
Follow these steps if you are trying to reset NVRAM
Step-1 First shutdown the device.
Step-2 Press the power button and immediately press all these 4 keys and hold for 20 seconds and release it.
Step-3 Let it start normally now, i hope startup issue can be fixed.
Follow these steps if you are trying to reset PRAM
Step-1 First Shutdown the device.
Step-2 Listen carefully the startup chime and immediately press the 4 keys and hold until the second chime then release keys.
Step-3 Let it start normally, i hope your Startup issue can be fix.
Important Notice
If you have set firmware password in your Mac device then don't try above mentioned steps because it will become worthless. If you want to test above steps then first you have to remove your firmware password then NVRAM or PRAM resetting will work.
Hope i can describe it perfectly...
Thanks
