Mornings in a different time zone are a bit odd. I am up at my normal time but it is actually 7am instead of 5am and the sun is up. Yesterday I was able to catch the Belgian darts and watched much of it over the morning. We weren't slated to do anything until later in the day so I had the time. In the end it was Josh Rock who won and thankfully MVG lost in his home town.
I got another blind installed. This one took the place of a pair of smaller blinds that were thrown in the trash right away. This new one blocks a lot more light.
The storms were building and moving across eastern Montana and western North Dakota mid day and I was watching the doppler pretty close. Windy showed the storms had a healthy amount of lightning and once they got closer they were for sure slamming some lighting around.
The plan was an escape room in town and we were all there mid afternoon. Rather funny to me that it is in the same building as the public defender and also notice the Hive?
The escape room was actually pretty nifty. It was my first one and this was a pirate themed one. It took us 41 minutes to get through it with a few hints along the way.
Some nifty things in their display case.
The super old school brick work in the building.
Super old school. Those are slots for glass fuses. We have the same on our well in our house on the farm, that was built in 1928.
The nieces and the boys.
As we left to head back to the house this was what was heading our way. Storms in North Dakota can be quite epic, but not nearly as deadly as farther south.
This was the view to the west as we headed back to the house.
I was standing outside as the storm front moved in and I watched a bird overhead. It caught the gust front of the storm and I watched it circle in very tight turns as it turned into the wind and shot straight up in the lift. Over a couple minutes it gained many thousands of feet of altitude until it disappeared into the clouds. It was super cool watching it turn into the lift and shoot up like a balloon until it turned out of the lift and circled back around into it.
The storms rolled through and dumped a nice amount of rain as the thunder and lightning went off. After they passed we all went out for a walk around the neighborhood.
Which was enough to knock the nieces out for naps.
The evening was spent hanging out and the kids played some games until it was time for them all to head for home.
Still wild to me how late the light stays.
Not sure about today, I'm searching for a tool rental but Minot isn't seeming to have it available... Might have to come up with another way of moving dirt across the property. FIL has a tractor that I should probably just convince him to use and I can shovel out of the bucket... The point is to fill MIL's garden planters in the back yard but the soil is on the other side of the property. At least it is a nice sunny day but most places are closed for the holiday.
