It was day 2 of Chinese New Year. What did we do?
Usually day 2 of CNY is when married wives like me go back to our maiden's home to visit but I have decided not to fly this year. I miss my family and all their gatherings because I am the only person, only child among 4 of us not returning.
Reason being it is too rush for us as I have to settle multiple things after CNY for the children and the husband has an event to handle at work this upcoming Sunday. If we were to go back for a short while, it is not worth the expensive tickets. However, I am quite determined to be back for CNY next year for the children to experience CNY in my hometown for once. It is far more merry over there actually.
So I started my day with some acar which is pickled cucumbers from my land, brought over and gifted to me by my sis-in-law's parents.
Then I stayed home with the baby girl to rest and recuperate because CNY does mess up our routine and schedule. I was also suffering from neckache and back sore from a lot of carrying the baby.
I still dressed her up in a cheongsam romper at home, for the fun of it and it is CNY anyway.
I had a video call with my youngest sis and mum. They showed me they were wearing the clothes I bought for them today, which made me very happy to see them like it. We talked about mybeldest uncle, whom I am very concerned about. He was back in my mum's hometown for CNY reunion but it has been raining non stop for days in Sarawak that when he returned home, he saw that his home was flooded till almost the rooftop. There were so much damages to all his fiod and bed mattresses. He and his wife are retirees who live on just monthly money given by the welfare department, especially after 3 of their children have passed. Sigh, my heart aches for them whenever I think of this because one of their children was my close cousin who was also my friend. So I am thinking of ways to chip in to help with my mum and her siblings.
Anyway, back to day 2.
The baby girl had a blast playing with her dad and brother before all 2 brothers and dad went out to have some hang out time with their cousins and uncle and friends.
My sis-in-law's nephew is in town and my eldest son so happen plays ganes with him and met him online. Then when they met for the first time, they became friends. This is their second meet up and my eldest was excited to meet him again.
They went to ealk around the mall and went into bookshop.
The husband sent me photos of the 2 sons walking together.
Back at home, the baby girl caught up with her nap and woke up suddenly knew how to do the gesture of gongxi gongxi which is holding her fist together and shake. Hahaha just in time before CNY ends!
The boys came back about 630pm in the evening only to tell me that thw eldest lost his water bottle. So i went back out to the outdoor playground they went to search for it. Luckily, it was still there so I managed to retrieve it. I then bought some ice-creams to surprise them.
After dinner, as part of winding down, all 4 of us sat at the sofa to enjoy an ice-cream each.
