I was out walking the beach late yesterday afternoon to go see some friends at Piscinas. The swell had died down to waist high after nearly 2 weeks of solid swells hitting Lobitos. A lot of sand has moved around as usual after big swells, but it is being carved out further and further inland.
These are natural processes that will continue to run its course over time, but it is fascinating to observe.
Here are a few photos of the walk up the beach towards Piscinas:
(The fallen tree had been dead for ages)
(Surf slicing layers off the beach)
(Old oil infrastructure reappearing)
(The old pier by the new one)
(Note that at low tide, you can't walk under the pier)
I know in time the sand will push back up, but I am interested to see how this affects the surf spots here and which will work best next.
