Happy Saturday Hivers! This time, I will share with you one of my favorite breakfasts... for the healthy and nutritious ingredients, for the exquisite contrast we achieve by combining slices of toasted bread with our appetizing "ripe" crushed tomato, to which we will add some additional touches that will enhance and transform in a unique and special way the final result... A delicacy to the palate!
This recipe is known in Spain as "pan tumaca" or "bread with tomato". For its preparation there are many versions: we can add sliced, crushed or grated tomatoes, garlic and olive oil can be integrated to the tomato, to obtain a less intense flavor I suggest rubbing the garlic cloves to toast, although the garlic flavor is what I love most in this recipe ... the oil can be the first ingredient to be added to the bread or to the crushed tomato or in the last step as a final touch... I confess that I have tried ALL versions, even adding our healthy olive oil to the bread, then to the tomato and at the end of the process, all options have been spectacular!
Let's put on our aprons and following the good example of the Mediterranean diet, let's start preparing the ideal option for breakfast or a snack... if you want to enjoy a succulent and healthy appetizer, this alternative is the best choice.

En esta oportunidad, compartiré con ustedes uno de mis desayunos predilectos... por lo saludable y nutritivo de sus ingredientes, por el exquisito contraste que logramos al combinar las rebanadas de pan tostado con nuestro apetitoso tomate "maduro" triturado, al que integraremos algunos toquesitos adicionales que realzarán y transformarán de forma única y especial el resultado final... Un manjar al paladar!
Ésta receta, se le conoce en España como "pan tumaca" o "pan con tomate". Para su elaboración existen infinidad de versiones: podemos añadir los tomates en rodajas, triturados o rallados, el ajo y el aceite de oliva se pueden integrar al tomate, para obtener un sabor menos intenso les sugiero frotar los dientes de ajo al pan tostado, aunque el sabor del ajo es lo que más amo en ésta receta ... el aceite puede ser el primer ingrediente en incorporar al pan o al tomate triturado o en el último paso como toque final... les confieso que he probado TODAS las versiones, inclusive colocando nuestro saludable aceite de oliva al pan, después al tomate y al final del proceso, todas las opciones han resultado espectaculares!
Pongámonos el delantal y siguiendo el buen ejemplo de la dieta mediterránea, empecemos a preparar la opción ideal para desayunar o merendar... si desean disfrutar de un suculento y saludable aperitivo, ésta alternativa es la mejor elección.
- This time, I used 3 large, ripe tomatoes... the suggested quantities are enough for two people (you can double them).
- En ésta oportunidad, utilicé 3 tomates grandes y maduros... las cantidades sugeridas son para 2 comensales (las pueden duplicar).
You can crush or grate the tomatoes, this last option was my choice... Add 1 clove of crushed garlic, this ingredient will give our recipe an exquisite contrast, as I mentioned at the beginning of the publication: if you want a less intense flavor, you can rub the garlic clove on toasted bread. If you wish to prepare this recipe without adding this ingredient, it also looks great.
In this step, we add 1/2 teaspoon of salt. We reserve in the refrigerator, while we proceed to toast our succulent bread.
- Pueden triturar o rallar los tomates, ésta última opción fue mi elección... Añadimos 1 diente de ajo triturado, éste ingrediente aportará a nuestra receta un exquisito contraste, como les comenté al principio de la publicación: si desean un sabor un menos intenso, pueden frotar el diente de ajo al pan tostado. En caso que deseen preparar ésta receta sin añadir éste ingrediente, también queda genial.
- En éste paso, añadimos 1/2 cucharadita con sal. Reservamos en la nevera, mientras procedemos a tostar nuestro suculento pan.
- For this recipe, I love to use white bread with little crumb and a toasted crust... there are plenty of alternatives: whole wheat, with oats and seeds... this option, I leave to your choice.
- Para ésta receta, me encanta utilizar pan blanco con poca miga y con una corteza tostada... existen infinidad de alternativas: integral, con avena y semillas... ésta opción, se las dejo a su elección.
- Next, we generously add the ingredient that will bring a unique and special taste... We add our appetizing "extra virgin olive oil", before placing it I suggest you first prick with a knife the bread crumbs.
- A continuación, agregamos de forma generosa el ingrediente que aportará un sabor único y especial... Añadimos nuestro apetitoso "aceite de oliva extra virgen", antes de colocarlo les sugiero primero pinchar con un cuchillo la miga del pan.
- With this beautiful tonality we will have... Add a pinch of salt.
- Con éste hermosa tonalidad nos quedará... Añadimos una pizca de sal.

- Today, I wanted to take a risk by adding a pinch of oregano... this ingredient is NOT part of the original recipe, but it goes very well with the tomato (it is optional).
