I am pretty obsessed with Productivity. But how productive am I? well, that's another story. I sure learn so much, but there's one thing, Productivity is nothing when you don't have any end road or things to work on. For me, I have so many things to deal with, but I don't like them enough to do it. This is why I am no Elon Musk, and many of us aren't Elon Musk either.
Musk puts in anywhere between 85-100 hours per week, often working the full seven days. He's also developed an intense process of batching tasks to be as efficient as possible. College Info Geek.
His endurance and passion are truly exceptional. On average, he works about 11hr/day. For me, that will be difficult to do because my energy and battery will only last about 5 hours at max before I am getting drifted doing something else. Elon also said that he sleeps 6 hours/day. That's ideal for most people, and most people who are workaholics sleep that much. But for me, I am someone with an inconsistent schedule. Even my five personality results showed that my conscientiousness is generally moderate. That means it is neither too bad nor too good. Yet, it is still not at the rate which I wanted it to be.
I have read Elon Musk's biography, and I think he is extremely dedicated. I can learn that he is persistent and won't reach his goals and dreams in life. I think that's where he gets his energy. Our life is different from Elon's, but we can learn to apply the same productivity approach.
For now, the one thing that I want to have in my life is a schedule. A set of routines will help me tremendously keep track of time, date, and tasks. I used to have one, but I stopped caring around December. I intend to start re-scheduling and sticking to the schedule, especially now that I discover more tools to become more productive.
Productivity and being productive are fun. I have been exploring this realm since I was in high school. I enjoy being productive, able to absorb much information, and be ahead of everyone else. Being in control of my schedule gives me a sense of confidence. Besides, knowing that I get something done is also an easy way to measure my progress.
By controlling the schedule, it is easy to fix the mistakes. For instance, if I feel sluggish, I can quickly know the cause. Maybe that day I eat something that causes an allergic reaction? Maybe that day I was spending too much time on youtube? Everything is just easier to navigate when we track things.
Maybe, just maybe, this time, I want to try living like Elon Musk. He works 11 hours a day, sleeps 6 hours, takes a shower once he wakes up. These are all interesting. I also like Tim Ferris, and I used to listen to him, and he is my big-time inspiration. I want to be ultra-productive, gets thing done and be more mindful with what I do. Elon doesn't offer a holistic approach to this, but Ferris does. So, I will try combining both tricks and see how my life will improve starting today.
I have written so much about Ferris in my blog. I think he is as admirable as Elon. However, Ferris has a more holistic approach in his life. But again, I want to live the life I used to have, a relentless one. So, good luck to me!
