I took shots of familiar places today but experimented with the simple tools on Windows Photo Editor to see what could be done.
This is just black and white.
Decreased color saturation, increased clarity (local contrast) and reduced exposure. The sky looks more dramatic than before. Overall, these images look more dramatic partly due to the reduced color saturation, too. Setting the colorsaturation to zero would've made them look more boring in my opinion.

This military vehicle stopped at the lights. Any theories as to what that thing in tow could be?
