I have come across a couple of new accounts in the past week or so, and I have noticed a trend:
After making an introduction post, they disappear. Or start posting selfies looking for some easy coins.
Now you might see some people doing just that and earning huge upvotes, but I can assure you that won't work for you in the long run. Hive is in constant flux, what works today might not work tomorrow, so first rule of engagement:
Put your ears on the ground
That might be difficult for a new user as you barely know anything about this place. I am sure you heard that you can make a lot of money by posting stuff on here and you jumped on it. Well, that was me when I first got here but it didn't work out that way until I started to learn more about the blockchain.
Where are you getting your information?
To learn about hive you need to be informed. Searching for information can be a personal thing for some while others seek help from others. My advice to any newbie would be to join a community--an active community. This way you can find people who can provide you with useful information about the blockchain and how it works.
The next advice will be to put in work and be involved in the growth of the blockchain. Hive as a blockchain and a community has a major goal--which is mass adoption. We want people across the globe to know and use this blockchain. That will bring a lot of opportunity to the blockchain many of us cannot fathom at this point. Now, you really don't need to part of the people promoting hive, but I assure you that your relevance on the chain, in the long run, depends on your contribution to blockchain and community. Asides that, if you find yourself in the content creation department, it is advisable that you put in your best foot forward. Creating quality content would not only increase your chances of earning huge upvotes but also it increases your chances of making new friends which is important in your journey here. I will emphasize connecting with people you share similar interests with. Pandering to people for upvotes isn't ideal--for me personally.
Lastly, enjoy what you do here. If you do enjoy creating content then hive is a place for you. If you just want to earn a few bucks then it might get frustrating at some point. I will attribute my consistency here due to the fact that's was a blogger prior to my involvement in hive. So creating content is both a hobby and job so nothing is taken away from me.
For does who are not interesting in creating content, there other ways you can be invested here that will earn you some form of passive income. I made a video some days ago covering this.
So I hope with these few tips your hive experience improves. If you're from Nigerian and you want to join a community of like-minded individual then you're welcome to the hive-Naija community. You can find us on Discord. We are building a community of active users from Nigeria and we'll love for you to be part of our community.
