स्थिरा शैली गुणवतां खलबुध्या न बाधते |
रत्नदीपस्य हि शिखा वात्ययाSपि न नाश्यते ||
Shhiraa shailee gunavataam khalabudhyaa na baadhate.
Ratnadeepasya hi shikha vaatyayaapi na naashyate.
Sthiraa = steady, long lasting.
Shailee = technique, way of doing a task. Gunavataam = virtuous persons.
Khala = mean and wicked person.
Budhyaa = purposely;
Na = not.
Baadhate = disturbs, prevents.
Ratnadeepasya = of a lamp in which jewels give out the light.
Hi = surely.
Shikhaa = flame.
Vaatyayaa = by a strong gust of wind.

Na = not.
Naashyate = extinguished, destroyed.
The above phrases means the following in english :
The way of doing a task by wise and virtuous persons is very steady and long lasting and remains undisturbed by the impediments purposely created by mean and wicked persons,
just like a lamp in which jewels give out light (in modern parlance an electric bulb) can not get extinguished even in a strong gust of wind.
So next time, find a right person to get knowledge and do not waste time running after unknowledgeable person.
