I was inspired by thisismylife
's recent blogging challenge on @liketu
, 'The 30 Pictures 30 Stories Challenge'.
They were originally inspired by rubencress
'30 day not-so ordinary ordinary items challenge' and I find both challenges a great way to encourage daily posting on hive.
This challenge is pretty open-ended; please feel free to follow my formula, or thisismylife's or rubencress' challenge structures listed in their posts linked above ๐ผ
The only stipulations are that you post one picture a day with a personal story attached to it for 30 days.
Write your story/anecdote to the best of your ability, and use the tag #30stories and/or the #notsoordinary tag if you're following rubencress' challenge. It is also advised to use the #challenge tag.
As I am a professional writer outside of hive blockchain, and as I only dabble as an amateur photographer, I thought I would follow thisismylife's
challenge format to tell some stories and anecdotes about my strange life.
Eivissa town in Ibiza is like a rabbit warren of climbing buildings clinging to the side of the hill, wellsprings that seem to pop up in the walls very often and sun-soaked hidden courtyards.
I also loved the medieval city walls that encircle the old town, ancient architecture, and history of piracy generally on the Island of Ibiza.
The town folk of The Port city of Ibiza Port d'Eivissa developed their own novel defences against the island's proliferation of pirates by creating their own militia, who also used to indulge in 'privateering' at times ๐
I think the general idea was to make sure that the pirates located around the island in various towers strategically located near coves and beaches didn't fck with the populous of the capital city ๐
So, at least for a short time, this sunny paradise island was pretty much the only pirate state ever to be formed in the Mediterranean... a far cry from the party and hippie vibes of modern-day Ibiza.
This history fascinates me, and I have researched it extensively as part of a setting for a pirate kingdom in my fantasy fiction WIP (work in progress).
Truly, it is local history and legend that always top the list of highlights of anywhere I travel, but I can't deny that a huge part of it is also living, at least for a while, on the sunnier side of life.
During my second trip to Ibiza I wrote a poem entitled Dionysus' Sojourn which is previously unpublished. Dionysus' Sojourn is a love poem about the island of Ibiza.
The premise of the poem is that the ancient Greek goddess Dionysus has found herself washed up on the shores of the island and has inhabited it with her spirit.
All poetry performed on my channel is:I hope you enjoy this SoundCloud reading of Dionysus' Sojourn.
